Staying in Girne in December (Pia Bella). Can any-one recommend any money exchange kiosks that don't charge commission and how do their rates compare to banks? What rate are they giving at the moment from £ to TL and € to TL? Thanks

Most exchange places do not charge commision. The one we use is opposite the Dome hotel as there is a cash machine nearby. The one not to use is the one on the corner of Ziya Rizki caddesi and Attaurk Caddesi this shop appears to have a faulty calculator. Was in on Thursday and it was 2.81 tl to the pound. Dont know about the Euro rate.

Walk out of front of PB hotel and turn right. Cross over the road heading towards Lemar and then cross over the road on your left. Reliable currency exchange shop in this row of buildings. Distance from hotel is 200m maximum.

I recommend KOZAN DOVIZ. Always good service, no commission and reliable staff. 2 offices, one in upper Girne on the main road, and one downtown.

I can reccommend the one opposite the Dome hotel. I always use this one to exchange my sterling which I get from the machine opposite.

Can also recommend the kiosk opposite The Dome. Always used it until the one opened in Alsancak, which is more convenient for us.

Coming from Girne towards Lapta, go past Golden Lady on the left for about a quarter of a mile. On the right, you will The Capitano restaurant. You'll easily recognise this, as it's built to look like a ship (and I doubt they'll have any customers ). The money exchange is virtually opposite there in the parade of shops that includes a DVD shop, a car wash and (I think) Cafe Britain. The money exchange is actually a shop called Green Valley Rental Car. I hope this is clear. No doubt someone can given you much clearer directions than me. Jean
