Hi, I'm not a heavy user of VPN I only use it when I need it for shopping at Amazon etc. I've never had a problem before but now I cannot connect, it just hangs at the login screen. Any other extend users having a problem? My setup has been checked by uktvabroad and appears to be correct so I'm at a loss as why I can't connect.

coffer, Extend told me that my 'software firewall' was clashing with the firewall built in to the Extend hardware, and preventing the VPN from connecting. They advised me to disable the firewall on my computer, and voila! - it worked... They said that their firewall was sufficient protection Like you, I had previously asked mm to have a look at it, but he couldn't see why it wasn't working. If you have any doubts about this advice, ring the Extend helpline on 4442992 (you probably know the number off by heart ) - although they have a crap reputation, they normally do deal with these sorts of queries quite well, as long as they're not dealing with a system breakdown - which is when everyone normally tries to contact them...

Cheers I'll have a go at that, I use Gwyn and Paul who are looking at it from their end. Just thought I post to see if it was a general problem. I'll let you know the results!

coffer, I tried http://www.amazon.co.uk this morning, and it's working again for me without using a vpn - I don't know if it's a fluke, but you might want to give it another go...

For info The problem that coffer was having was not to do with any 'software firewall' but actual to do with the router / wifi box that had been installed in his house and the way this was setup with regards to the incomming internet connection. I believe coffer has now sorted this problem I have to say that every setup I have seen where a wireless internet provider also provides a wifi router in the house as well is set up in a way that makes these problems posible and there is in fact no need to set things up in this way. There is a better way that avoids these kind of problems. This is quite a complicated subject but I hope to write something about it in due course so that others can avoid these kind of problems.
