Has anybody noticed any sharp increases in Kibtek charges over the past few weeks ? We are not even out there but suddenly found an eight-fold increase in the direct debit taken out of our bank at the end of August. It's either that or someone's nicking it.

What is an 8 fold increase? Used to be 4 tl and now 30 tl? Or more like 25 tl and now 200 tl. Let me know and perhaps I can tell you.

The magnitude of the mystery is more like normally around 13 YTL per month with the last one end of August coming in at 106 YTL. However, there is no corresponding increase in water charges which suggests we do not have "lodgers".

Interesting! That is usually the figure for a non air-conditioned, solar heated hot water supply apartment/house during summer. You do not have to have squatters, people nowadays can actually steal electricity from you, by using hidden wires from your main supply route. The problem is, Kıbtek do not do anything to help. They just ask you to find an outside electrician who can go to your premises and do some tests to see if there is an external connection. The ideal thing to do is to ask a friend to go and pull out the main connection plug from your meter. Just put it back when you return.

Well, we take the fuse out while we are not there but that doesn't stop someone else sticking another fuse in it. It is an apartment block with no permanent residents I should add. Maybe, just maybe, it's a Kibtek mistake but if it is, it'll be the first one in four years. We await the next out-payment with trepidation. Should be due any day (sometimes they take end of month sometimes beginning).

Could be they mis-read the meter. Happened to us one month . We took a photo and went down to Kib-tek, 'no problem' we were assured and the bill was ammended the next month. Difficult I know to sort out if you are not there.
