A turkish friend of mine has lived here for 32 years and she still cannot get hers. She is angry because a footballer was given his citizen ship recently during a two week visit. His address was shown as Jasmin Court!

No permanent residency or citizenship for us at the moment. Makes me angry because we made sure we obeyed all the rules - no out of the country for more than 90 days in any one year, or back to the beginning. We are still AT the beginning - and now the white card is not to be, and so we are back at the beginning When we came the path to citizenship was 5 years - now one of a permanent temp!

Agreed message 10, but a bit of consistency would be good. Was in Australia before and that is consistent in who can be what and stay for what. here the goal posts mov e so often and so fast that it is seemingly impossible for the best of players to get a goal!

Msg 12. Yes frequently. We bought our houses, bought our cars, been milked of something in the region of £17,000 over and above what we thought for property i.e. taxes that came out of the woodwork unannounced, the list is endless. Yes I believe we're considered to be superfluous to requirements now and an embarassment. Yet, this is the only place we have to go, most of the time feeling like a second class citizen.

newscoop - not quite that long. I got mine in 2008, but I think they stopped maybe later that same year or 2009 and I think I'm honest!

Yes, Tango 1. And I know many London Cypriots who have come back who feel the same. Many of them feel unwanted too. shame isn't it, when one has no choice other than to stay. guess we must make the best of what we hav,e but often feel cheated that I do not have what I was expecting.
