Tried to get on their website but it doesn't seem to be working, does anyone know if they will be offering alternative flights to Heathrow? Sent an email but obviously no reply, as with most passengers we need to sort alternative flights asap. Brings back a feeling of deja vu - lost my flights last year due to CTA!

I have just posted a thread below re this. I had booked flights for next May, I called their office they re routed my flights via Amsterdam. Their web site is working, but obviously you cannot book any Manchester flights!

You can go via London if thats your preference.

Much as I like the place, and will still keep coming back, lets face it, Cypriots could not run a p**s up in a brewery , let alone a national airline. Afraid it is going to be left to proffesional outsiders.

Just rung them in London to get a refund, no problem. Said to her it was crazy to cancel the Manchester route, and she agreed! What a farce.

well after several phonecalls I have established that they can't get me to Manchester as flights from Heathrow to Mancester are full as are the Amsterdam-Manchester flights. I can get a refund for the LCA - Manchester flight but when I asked if I could get a refund for the whole booking (I am returning Heathrow-Larnaca) it was 219 euros less than what I orginally paid (3 passengers)!

What I really would like to know is why do I have to find out about this from a forum, why didn't they email all their passengers to inform them of the changes?

I have now managed to get to Manchester using Easyjet but of course have the extra expense of getting to Paphos.

Thank you to MArvin and others for this post.

I WAS due to fly with CA to Manchester in 4 weeks time. No email from them or anything. Thanks to this post I just telephoned them and my flight is cancelled. No explanation given as to why they are not informing customers of this.

Thank you - at least now I have chance to rebook and not just arrive on day of travel to be told flight is cancelled.

These are your rights:

Unless you are informed of the cancellation within 14 days before the flight

The airline must

1/reimburse your ticket within seven days

or 2/re-route to your final destination under similar conditions

and if necessary,

3/ care (phone call, refreshments, food, accommodation, transportation to the accommodation). - not applicable if ample notification provided.

Not sure I'd be ringing .... I'd wait for them to contact ME...

The reason I rang them mmmmm was to check my flight has been cancelled and to give me enough time to be able to rebook with another airline, and not just days before when availability may be limited and prices high.

Hi Jayne

I'm sorry, if I didn't make myself clear.. if you turn up and weren't notified of the cancellation, CY Air HAVE to:

"seek volunteers to give up their reservation in exchange for certain benefits. In addition, the air carrier must also offer volunteers the choice between a full refund and re-routing.

You may be entitled to compensation of between €125 and €600 depending on the distance of the flight and

the delays experienced before being re-routed. Where volunteers choose re-routing, the airline must also provide assistance if necessary, for example - food, access to a telephone, hotel accomodation of one or more nights if necessary and transportation between the airport and the place of accommodation. "

So, you'd get there, and THEY have to sort you out ....

I wonder how long it will be before Cyprus Airways folds?

Too many staff and no more goverment money to bail them out.

All the UK carriers to Larnaca are now increasing their prices.

If only I had a pound for every time I've heard that CY Air are going to fold....

The govt, keep finding a way ( sailing close to EU competition rules) to 'help'....

Used CA last month for the 1st time in 2 years and was surprised by the lack of leg room. On the occassions I had used them before they had used larger planes, this time it was a 3 x 3 seat row. Not a comfortable journey. On the plus side, what a transformation in Larnaca airport!

Hi Gary

I just looked at CY air's site and was surprised to see A320's on the route that normally had the A330 wide bodies jets...

Hmm, I wonder where they've gone ?
