Very sad , such a tragic waste of lives , and the untold misery to the families it causes .It frightens the life out of me , driving here at night , i took some friends to the Airport at 2am , last Sat , thinking it would be quite quiet , but the driving of some of drivers that were on the road , was nothing less than dangerous , overtaking then doing immediate left turns , had to swerve to avoid hitting him , the person behind me was overtaking me , we were lucky to get there alive , that with the high speeds , blaring headlights , driving at night here is no for the feint hearted

Clearly he was not "Dutch" but Turkish born, with a surname that probably translates as "Dutch"

The man who died was a lovely man. He used to come and strim my garden and even though he did not speak a lot of English we used to have a good laugh. He always called his wife 'my madam at home'.

Just so sad. Spoke to him only last week. And the poor child, his family do not have much money and there will be no plastic surgery for this poor little boy.

The other driver had a foreign number plate(red). I could not properly understand what happened from the local man who told us. If somebody could give me a summary of how it happened here, I would be grateful.

Talking to a TC yesterday he said that their papers said that the car that hit this poor man was driving on the wrong side of the road (being used to driving on the right hand side of the road in Holland) could also happen if a mainlander came here as they drive on the "wrong" side of the road also. Such a terrible tragedy - there but for the grace of God .... RIP

There was only one accident that resulted in death on the way to Karpaz last week. That was when one of the drivers (Fatih Durdu - A TURK) started to drive on the wrong side and ran into another oncoming vehicle. The other vehicle had another Turkish family; Mehmet Aydemir the father - who died, as well as 3 y.o. Bayram Aydemir and 37 yaşındaki Fevzi Çobanoğlu, who were both injured. They were all Turks!

Google translation in the forum post you quoted, mistakenly written the surname as Dutch instead of Durdu. Nowhere in the news is there any mention of a Dutchman.

The post you provide link to has the WRONG / misleading heading added to it by whoever posted it, who in turn clearly got the message wrong from Google translation.

Just remind me to tell you the story of the "chicken soup" by Nasreddin Hodja at another time...

@ msg 10, bigOz: Thank you for your post. I read the "translated" article and the suggestive headline yesterday, after I was redirected to another bulletin board, and had my own ideas about the reason to publish it at all.

A decent publisher would publish an apology after this canard*.

Ref message 15:

Snipping? think you mean 'sniping'

Unfortunately until Nige gives up his multiple identities and stops talking to himself (even on his own board) then he will not gain any respect from anyone.

@ msg 22, Passionflower: (...) us (...)

▶ To the point: you described your problem: "Us". It's called schizophrenia. One man thinking he's another man also. It sometimes shows on bulletin boards, where one man takes several ID's. Help starts with pills and later some hours (years) with the psychiatrist. Try it.

Now you really are scraping the bottom of the barrel. I would suggest you sit down and take stock of what you are posting before you are banned yet again.

▶ I don't know, Nige. I'll ask the drunken dog that you tried to avoid on the road, OK? And what was it that disappeared later? A blood sample? My memory fails me, but I'm sure you'll remember.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves, a man has died in a terrible accident and all you lot can do is dig at each other like schoolboys in the yard. For Gods sake show a bit of decency and respect to this man and his family, are you still capable of that?

@ msg 30, pugwash: I confirm that I don't know you and don't know if I've ever met you. Too bad, by the way (imo).

@ msg 35, philbailey: This thread is based on a wrong translation (read msg 10 by Turkish speaking bigOz) and a (deliberately?) misleading headline about an accident - unfortunately but not surprisingly at all happening in TRNC almost daily. You may not know that, far away in London, but it's a fact.

Why don't you wonder why this thread was started at all, instead of crying crocodile tears in the UK?
