Just because nobody has replied it does not mean they do not care, I care, but what is it you expect people to say. Do you want hundreds of replies saying how sad it is ?

It is of course, indefensible, unconscionable, undeniable, unbearable, a young person died as a result of bullying - the translation is appalling - can someone encapsulate what he was supposed to have done, and what was done to him? NOT of course, that ANY form of bullying is acceptable - I hope his family sue the Army to hell and back; and publicise their loved one's demise far and wide - the perpetrators should be named and shamed and their names broadcast far and wide also... We personally know a young man who was literally scarred for life by bullying from 'superiors' (who of course by their very actions, make them inferiors) when he was doing his National Service, I know it has mentally damaged him too

It is my understanding that a lot of young men from Turkey do their National Service in NC. Nige, we know that Pugwash isn't you - how can Pugwash be you, when you're you? The above sentence is about as confusing as when you were operating under about 6 different names at any one time, by the way PS Yes, Lilli did think at one time that Pugwash and Little Nige were one and the same. She was advised that they weren't.

Lilli apologised, please bother to look for the thread littleidiot it is on the board and quite accessible.. If you look it explains that he he was Turkish and his parents live in Istanbul, not that it excuses the abuse but it is better if you get your facts right littlenige.

Unfortunately this is only one of the many cases that happens in the TRNC each year, This young soldier was basically brutally murdered and everyone from the highest rank down who are responsible should be made accountable, but like every else, it will be hashed up with only the 2 soldiers carrying out the orders will be punished. The army prosecutor has interviewed the 40 plus people in that division but none of the ranking officers have been charged, Hope that family of the young boy takes every legal step in the courts against the persons concerned.

So who was tortured, if that is what that translation is supposed to say, was it Nige, Pugwash, Uncle Tom Cobbly ? Passionflower, you will need to get used to people on this forum having several different IDs, just let it go over your head.

Bad translation but still should not have happened anyway - of course the Boy Entrant who was stuffed in a bed locker and thrown in the swimming pool to drown in 1962 never made the headlines, but then that was UK and then and now its a much more fluffy and caring world I guess. Before the "Flack" hits the board please remember that this sort of thing happens all the time in every armed forces in the world - it is sad when it goes wrong but it happens anyway. Petitions and the EU fluffy laws will never, ever stop service people from making sure that either their own brand of rough justice is done. Neither will they stop service people making sure that punishments are carried out, so they can then depend upon the person they stand next to in combat. It is service life and even if you think it never happens anymore - it does!

Its only forums like this that high lights things to many of us, if these links and little snippets of news were not made more public some of us would not be aware of these happenings... I for one would not have heard about it being in GB... All publicity regarding these sort of incidents are very welcome to be brought to our attention.. Pugwash, why do you too resort to bullying as well? It looks like you and certain other members have a vindictive streak in you... Back on topic... lets hope the family push for justice ...

I disagree with Waddo completely!! I joined Army at 16 and finally left in 2008 after 0ver 30 years service. I served with Highland Regiments and Airborne Parachute Battalions and cannot say that I was ever privvy either seeing, taking part or even hearing about bullying with units I was with. Deepcut is suspicious in more ways than one as suicide has been the verdict, but as usual the press has been allowed to influence - what about all the suicides in South Wales that were attributed to Facebook-, no big outcry there as press could not understand FB I too had 2 suicides in my Junior Leaders Regiment and in 1976 there was no call for anything more than normal enqiries. Waddo if you knew anything now about British Army training methods - the fact that RECRUITS/TRAINEES can give Instructors YELLOW Cards, yes thats your Socialist namby pamby discipline ethos. Result is that wastage rates during training has risen over past 10 years also retention amongst JNCO's has fallen dramati

I have just heard it on Turkish news. There are two arm services in Cyprus, one of TRNC and the other of Turkey. After all, Turkey has about 40,000 troops based in TRNC, most of them are made up of conscripts from Turkey. According to the news this unfortunate conscript was to finish his army service in August. A week to go, he was late for assembly and he was sent to the punishment room. It is reported that he was beaten up there and then tied to a chair and left under the sun. It is the sunstroke that killed him. He was rushed to military hospital in Turkey but could not be saved. Now his family is calling for punishment of those responsible. ismet

Quite. When wil the world learns. any form of life, is beyond value., then we may understand. The TRNC government should be held to account. Is this really the way forward? AS John Lennon said, "Give peace a chance" When will we ever learn? wynyardman

Hans msg 24, it has nothing to do with double ids this thread, or of people being naive as you so put it ... Hattikins said that with tongue in cheek me thinks ... Think we all know about double ids, but let it go over our heads, its the constant bullying by 'some' of you that get us fed up... Back on topic, this young man died because of bully boy tactics ... think on some of you who resort to this treatment to your fellow man... All bullying, torture is wrong... Lets hope that the 'boy' gets some justice, even if it has meant it being discussed on this forum,,, Well said Wyn x

Gusanova, Lucky guy to have joined a regiment that was really a band of brothers then on to a parachute regiment that also stuck together without let or hindrance. Sadly I only managed 25 years and joined at 15 and a half as a "brat" in 1963 and I have seen the system at work. My daughter left the Army and came home with the scars so don't think it is a myth - it happens. The "booties" that caught me on an aircrew survival course were very kind about the way they held my head under the water with a boot on the back of the neck and having your legs kicked out from under you when on finger tips against a frozen wall is just as much fun! Its life, get behind it and it builds character as well. Having been involved in military training till 2007 I also know all about yellow cards and red cards plus the fantastic troops who march along the road with the guy at the front talking on his mobile to the guy at the back! Would still do it all again!

Wyn, this despicable incident has nothing to do with TRNC government. It happened in the Turkish Army and not the TRNC army. In fact even the head of the TRNC army is appointed by Turkey from the Turkish army. So in fact Turkey is responsible for the TRNC army as well. ,ismet

DC If you know who all these people are then why do you let it worry you, I have a pretty good idea of who they are but so what, it keeps them happy and doesn't affect me in any way at all. Try to relax and don't let insignificant people upset you.
