Left through Larnaca on Wed !2th Oct. After a 2 hour+ delay at the gate and an extra hour in the air because of tail winds, we arrrived in Belfast at 4am. On arrival waiting for luggage, were told that if your bags were not on the rubber they weren't loaded! 100 + passengers were then told to form an orderly queue to fill in claims forms with one person dealing with them. another 1&1/2 hours later we left the airport. Just been told that our cases that we paid the extra £48 to transport & the extra £16 we had to pay for 2 kilo's excess on the way out because they decided that the NEW baggage allowance was 5k instead of 10k and we had to put stuff in the cases........... SHOULD arrive with us on THURSDAY! Not at all happy! And a warning to others.

Never flown from Larnaca without a delay. Long queues to check in and generally 1-2 hour delays to take off very poor service

We flew out from Larnaca on 12th October and were told that the delays were due to industrial action by Greek Air Traffic Control. One flight to Athens was delayed at least a couple of hours. I am surprised you were delayed by a tail wind! We had a head wind which added about quarter of an hour to our flight to Manchester. We had no baggage delays but stll felt tired out. Flying is not a pleasant experience these days at the best of times. flossie

Seems to me the time you save in the air to Larnaca is lost in delays. Add driving time to the north and its better to fly to Ercan.

Just found a flights company called Airflights from Larnaca and was wondering if anyone on C44 had used them and if so whatwas their opinion. It lists most airports in uk. Their e-mail address is http://www.airflights.co.uk Thanks.

Delays in charter airline flights aren't 100% attributable to the airports used.. Most of the times I've been delayed ( and worst delays ) were charter airlines Used to catch a CY Airways flight to Heathrow from LCA 9 times a year.. worst problem was on landing at LHR.. nowhere available to 'park' and disembark.. ( arriving on time) ... A good web site for checking out stats for reliability of airlines, etc., http://www.flightontime.info/news/news.html

Carndi they are a booking site only, you are better off in my experience using Skyscanner.net . Very occasionally Airflights will produce a cheaper flight but it is very rare indeed.

OOPS! HEAD wind was the one! Apparantly the incoming flight from Belfast arrived 45 minutes early because of tail winds so I suppose that it worked in reverse going back. Deniz1 I agree totally that it would be much better to fly to Ercan but us Northern Ireland people have to fly to England to do so, since there aren't any airlines who fly there from here.

Pat Msg 9 - If you are willing to cross the border and fly from Dublin there is a flight to Turkey onward to Ercan. Good service and food as well as 23Kg luggage allowance. Take it off board and email me if you want more details -Tom info@flightholiday.co.uk

Always used CTA from Ercan until their demise. Now use BA from Larnaca.

i think they have plans for the airport near famagusta, (forget the name of it) they are building a huge road next to it with several roundabouts, all that surrounds the place is a few small villages and miles of empty land,so why would they be building such a huge road? anyone know?
