Hi all

Having travelled to Northern Cyprus no less than 10 separate occasions I would like to know peoples thoughts on the current cost of living (eating out and drinks etc) as over the last 12 months the Turkish Lira has shot up quite considerably since we were last there ?

I just assume that the cost of living overall has gone up inline with this increase in the exchange rate but would like peoples opinions on this matter.

Most appreciate any info.

Kindest regards

Keith

No - we were there in the summer. Prices were the same in restaurants as prior year plus lots of offers. Getting 2.9 Lire to £ and it is extremely good value. Enjoy it whilst it lasts !!

Hi Perry

Many thanks for the info and looks as though I will be going again this winter at some point. Great also that it is 2.9 TL to the pound so even more reasons to go. Have previously booked at the Pia Bella but their prices have increased quite dramatically so looking at the Altinkaya Holiday Village but do not know anyone that's been ?

Many thanks anyway.

Knightrider...have a look at Tripadvisor for Altinkaya, mixed reviews..I used to be a tour rep for them and the owners are very nice people, the only drawback many years ago was the quality of the food but hopefully thats improved now.......www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel...Altinkaya_Holiday_Village

Hi there

Have looked at various reviews on the Tripadvisor website and generally good but would still like to know anyone that's been if possible as I would like to book a.s.a.p.

Many thanks dalartokat as I have also heard the owners are very good.

Kind regards

My husband and I along with another couple are staying at the Altinkaya at the present time. This is our second visit here stopping in one of their bungalows which consist of separate double bedroom, bathroom with shower and a further separate living area with television, small dining table and chairs, two seater small settee, coffee table , kettle and fridge with small freezer compartment. Ideal for what we want. The main hotel rooms consist of double bed or 2 singles, bathroom with bath and overhead shower and there is a kettle ,television and mini bar.

The hotel facilities are very good but the only downside we have found is that the supposedly hot breakfast buffett food is often cold.

Hi Knightrider,

I too am going to Altinkaya Holiday village in April. I got a really good deal with Cyprus Paradise with free half board and free room upgrade! I hope it's good!

I would look at The Cyprus Paradise website if I was you if you are interested. The offer is on until the end of April but I can't remember when it starts. I think it may be January 2012. Not sure.

We stayed at the Ship Inn last time. That too was nice.

Hope this helps!

Angela
