Having slated others for "cloning" shows I see the friendly neighbourhood journalist/teacher will be hosting her version of the Weakest Link for charity, and trying to be Anne Robinson surely there is only one Anne Robinson who does the Weakest Link just like there is only one Last Night at the Proms, but we have we have to accept that people of their own take on any event. Hence whilst slating the production of Aladdin and the Remembrance concerts please take into account those that live in glass houses should not cast the first stone.

Hope the evening goes well and you raise a substantial sum for the charity.

Unfortunately the real Anne Robinson was not available, and so I got talked into it by Tricia Dann. I hate copy cats, but am doing this for the sake of the turtles. Ligttle similarity with the Last night of the Proms - I have lived that, so don't like copies. As to theatre - I have done it but like that side of the lights - and as to slating Aladdin or Remembrance Concerts, no I am not. It is all about choices as to what gives me pleasure and what doesn't, and the same goes for Weakest Link - one chooses to go or not. Or come to that to take part. why not become one of my victims and help give others a night out that they chose , but then I am not really a good Anne Robinson, and am no where near the Queen of |Mean, and I don't get paid her money either.

A valid point, but a little sad - but then I will probably give a sad rendering, but fortunately the turtles won'[t know - as long as we get money to help them live.

decanddyl Seems a little below the belt but good advertising for Marion and the show. Keep it up so she has a full house.

Marion Sounds like you have a fan as decanddyl seems to follow you avidly. Good luck with being a right regal b----h which is what Anne R tris to be for the show.

Thanks Cocklebay, but I think message 1 is saying that I am the one living in a glass house, and to Cyprus Quest, you are so right. Thanks to message 1 for an extra bit of advertising. Now that makes me feel even less a Queen of Mean!

so that makes me even less of an Anne robinson, but if we can get some funds for the turtles, I don't care if I am less than 5th rate.

But then must ask just WHO is the Weakest Link to whom I will happily say 'goodbye'?? that must be the choice of the contestants.

Oh yes, but I merely read the other bit that said 'we love her to pieces'. As Shakespeare said 'what's in a name', so I prefer to ignore the name but pick up on the 'love' word, which is the best way to be. As they say 'always look on the bright side...' or ' see the best', so I chose the best word. And I quite like the word 'regal' and my dog is a bitch and a gorgeous thing, so , all in all, .... well you can see where I am (trying) to come from.

Thanks Barbie. delighted to ob lige, especially as the lovely Tricia Dann who is organising this is away and is worried that =we might not get enough support. So, date is 19th November. venue is Barons Theatre, lamboussa, Lapta (with a huge thank you to Gordon kent). Price of 20tl includes a glass of wine and some nibblies. (We had hoped to get a meal, but not possible). Start time is 7p.m. and tickets can be obtained at Lambousa \Market on a Saturday morning, or I can take bookings on here (!) At the moment we are limited, but orders can be taken! it ius not just to raise money -important though it is because of rising expenses involving several beaches where the turtles come to lay their eggs.hatch etc, but also to raise awareness of what SPOT does, plus of course to have a few laughs hopefully . Mind you Ian Shepherd declined on the grounds that he doesnot do 'public humiliation' but if we can get some people to laugh, then it will be great. Oh and Alpet are sponsoring us for p

oops..... for prizes and certificates and possibly medals. So far we have willing 'victims' as jacqui Smith who has just written The Other Grocer;'s Daughter; Neil Anthony (who hasn't said no but is determined to come and 'out bitch' me); Sirin Damdelon of Cyprus Today and BRT; Mervin who is a member of the Friends of SPOT team; Jacqueline Jones of 112; Carole King and Sue Tilt of TULIPS; Julia Price ex BRS Chairperson; gordon kent of Laboussa; Ali Murat - a very game player from Alpet Petrol; . some have declined due to other commitments (or maybe cos they don'[t fancy it!); others are away, and others have not yet replied, so I can't mention their names. And members from the audience are invited, but they must be sponsored and pay for the 'privilege'

enough to whet your appetitite? Hope so. come on - after all, it is the 'victims' and the audience that will make the night - not me.

So are the contestants already chosen ? How do I get to be a contestant ? Is that more expensive than being in the audience ?

are you volunteering Erolz. would you like to come on as KADS or some orlganisation of which you are a part. Then you get on for nothing. If you wish to be nominated by your partner, then they pay for the privilege . so if you represent an organisation it costs nothing, but we hope you bring your friends who will buy tickets. some have already been chosen because the Friends of SPOT tried to think of people in the public eye or representing organisations, but several people are away. So, again i ask - are you volunteering. We could put you next to Ali so you could help him with his english. He is a brave soul! And he could do with support - and I am sure that would give me a quip or two. So??????????????? Want to try to be the strongest link????

Yes I am volunteering. I am not in the public eye though and am not sure I would bring in many punters, but am more than willing to be a contestant.

thanks Erolz. You are on the list. I will be in touch via your personal e mail and confirm everything. don't worry about bringing in the punters, I know a little about you and that you are a helpful computer whizz kid/sound technological bloke and have helped with KADS. So do I put youdown as KADS????

so thanks again to message 1, you have got me some publicity, some sympathy and more importantly a contestant. thanks! Any more of you out there? Come on, make it a night to remember?

How much is it if my partner pays to have me publicaly humilated ? If it's not to expensive you can put me down that way, or if it is too expensive put me down as KADS.

the idea is that your partner offers to pay a sum and the highest bidder gets their partner/friend onto the panel. But in your case, I think i will be kind and put you down as KADS. You can always spend the extra money on raffle tickets?????? Is that o.K. with you?

And thanks again.

I think Marion is very brave she puts herself out there to be knocked and so is entitled to make her own comments. A great idea and a good cause. We should support the event and the cause and not bring personal views into it.

Not many of us are prepared to put our money where our mouths are and its only by being in the "public" eye that allows others to knock us.

Great stuff Marion, keep up all the good worth.

Ged Msg 1 Marion Mgs 2 - I go along with John Mgs 4 Carmella Msg 24, Pamela Msg 25 and all who support her in-between if for no other reason that she has the bit between her teeth like a good nag and will come home a winner for her chosen cause.

Good luck and keep on with it Marion

Thanks guys and gals for the encouragement. Not many people know that under this seemingly harsh and confident exterior beats a heart of pure marshmallow that gets severely dented from time to time. But with encouragement like yours, it is worth it, if in the end good can come about for others. Rest assured however, that no matter how good I may or may not be as Anne what REALLY makes it is the contestants who are prepared to be publicly humiliated. I think they deserve a real reward!

So, do we have any more takers???

And isn't it a shame that cocklebay will be away. He/she/it would have been a wonderful addition.

Maybe he/she/it will have to signed up for next year.

Oh and Gordon, someone made a typing error on the list I was given, and on it was stated 'c onfirmed so far, Gordon. ' I guess I read it wrongly - sorry, but are you SURE you won't take part. It would be really GREAT to have you up there as Mr Lamboussa! It might not be too painful, you could be voted off at the end of the first round! And there are some TC's on this time so it would be good to have you.

On Facebook Neil anthony Drake is making an offer I hope someone will take up. he will come in drag....................if someone will pay £1000 to SPOT for him to do it.! I have asked if he will take a lower sum, but come on guys. Just think of the grateful turtles, and the side splitting laughs on the evening. such a shame I have to wear black or I could have worn my old Widow Twankey costume.

Scoobydoo, no way are you getting out of this. Even if there area hundred more volunteers, you have such a dedicated set of fans, that I could not POSSIBLY put in a substitute. two from tulips is fine, and in any case what is a Carole without a Sue, or a Sue without a Carole ? You, dear Scoobydoo, like Nurse Awful are well and truly booked. If you both turn up in the same outfit, I will make sure you give a rendering of that lovely song 'Sisters, sisters..................'

And to Cocklebay - I love you madly.!!!!! Can;t say more than that! (Oh yes, I can - no food at Lambousa, so nothing to go wrong! - and more time for humiliation!) x x x x

Scoobydoo try the Regalia Dress Shop at Lapta for an outfit. You will look fab alongside NeilAnthony. As to the stitch up by the Press Last year, most of them are gone! And we do try not to have the same folk twice, although some people are such wonderful contirbutors that one has to ask.

and to Walkerscott and passionflower I send a huge thank you cyberspace hug and kiss for being so nice.

Of course, there is still room for more volunteers???Hope as many of you as can will come, as it will encourage Tricia Dann who is chief organiser for these events, and who has a passion for the turtles, and we don't want them to become Weakest Links in the scheme of things. and to keep them strong on these coasts ee need money. By the way, did I say that we owe a huge 'thank you' to Alpet who are sponsoring us to the tune of 1000tl, so we need to make sure we make that much, won't we????
