Stayed in many hotels in North Cyprus between 1996 and 2005 (before I had this great idea to buy!!) and without doubt the worst experience for me was Oscar's. Stayed at Sempati(Good),The Ship(good),Onar Village(good),moonrose(poor). Only ever had good reports of Denizkizi.

Between the two I would say Denizkizi, in my opinion far better than Oscars. It is a while since I stayed at either (about 10 years!) but I have eaten at Denizkizi recently and am sure their standards are still as good.

The Almonds beats both these, hands down, in my opinion.

Friends just stayed at Denizkizi......glowing report on the hotel, private beach [although open to non-residents for a small charge] and pool. Hotel has been refurbed recently. You could not do better than this hotel.

Denizkizi is about 300m from escape beach and is a very good hotel. Oscar,s wasn,t very good in our experience and the surrouding area is like Beirut

There are several beaches near to the Ship Inn and if you want to go into town just jump on a dolmus which stops right outside the front of the hotel. They do have a taxi service if this is what you prefer.

It's not that it is dangerous to go out at night at Oscar's, just that the surrounding area is a little run down, dusty and unkempt. Oscar's is just on the outskirts of the main town, so lots of places within walking distance, plus a small train (on the road) travels to and from town during the day. Denizkizi has a lovely beach and pool but is quite a distance from town. So it depends on how close you want to be to the main town.

@Hildysmith: almond is a little far from kyrenia it should cost me very much for taxis....because during the night i like kyrenia booking a bed and breakfast service. do you have prefered oscar or Denizkizi?
