Just to let you know that I was in the Social Sigorta Department today and was told that they would be shut on Monday as there was a public workers strike protesting at the Government changing their pension conditions.

I don't know how widespread it will be but it may be better to put off until Tuesday or at least trying to ring before you attempt to do business with Government Departments.

It is a general strike on Monday. Its touch and go for me because I have a container from China expected to arrive in Famagusta Monday morning. Hopefully I will get it in the afternoon or Tuesday morning. The harbour is supposed to resume work at 1 o'clock. I am going on holiday for two weeks on Wednesday, so they better not delay it too much!!!

Deniz;

As long as you're in the two week 'window' you'll be ok.

Deniz1,my road tax is due on Tuesday,the 1st,how come yours is due on Monday?

I went to get my fatura for the MOT today and the lady in front of me got a tax disc,I thought mmmmm this could save me a trip on Tuesday so when it was my turn I asked if I could get my tax disc for November,she said no so I argued that the last lady got hers and she replied that hers was for October,the police had stopped her so she had to get it and she had just fined her for being late )

There seems to be a protest/march along the by pass at the moment. I need some medication and all the chemists seem to be shut. Does anyone know about this today please?

Excellent idea, macrh along the bypass where no-one will see otr hear them perfect way to [not] get a nessage across.

As for the civil servants on Monady, apart from the obvious things posted above like car tax, 1yr visitor visa etc, no-ne will even notice.
