Hi Everyone, just retuned from TRNC and having carried out our own builders clean at our hopefully soon to be ready bungalow I was advised to have our travertine floors professionally buffed/polished by machine. I was told this would even out any uneven grouting and bring out the natural shine of the traverytine. I was told it would also be worthwhile doing this maybe once every year or so? Would appreciate any advice re contacts of contractors who carry out this work and their prices, ie 3 bedroom villa or square metre price, many thanks Joseph

I think that, as a natural product, like slate etc., travertine needs to be sealed and that the sealer comes in various percentages of gloss from matt through to full gloss.

I agree with hatty natural floors have to be sealed with a protective coating if you go to a tiling shop in the UK they can advise you on the type of products you can use, note they are not cheap
