Arina,

I've never been to the Police Station in Girne.

Could you give me directions please?

Marion, the name of the organiser is Natalie. She got the permission from the mayor.

Barish park is situated near the fountain.

It is between the Wednesday market place and the main road .

I agree Denise. I had made a diary note, and when I got there today, I thought I had got the day wrong. But no - it should have been today, and I agree it would haqve been good to have beebn told if it was cancelled. Maybe Natalie could not get enough support. But I was interested in the cause (as me) and in the event to cover for the paper.

so, what happened, Natalie? Not enough support?

Sorry but at the last moment we were informed that the fair was postponed because the Beledyesi did not have the time to clean the park after the week's rain . I appologise for not not putting this information into the Forum. The Fair will be next Sunday , the 27th.

What a shame you are holding your fair the day we have the CHILDREN IN NEED FOUNDATION CRAFT AND CAR BOOT CARNIVAL, we have worked so hard not to clash with any other events as this day was originally the censor day, we then got the ok form the Alsancak belediye that the day for Censor was changed, only then we arranged for the 27th.

Many thanks

Mo

Thanks for the explanation, but it looks to me that it might be wiser to hold it the week after the census to avoid clashing with the CIN event. so do keep us posted.

Natalie, why not hold it on a day other than Wed, Sat, or Sun and then you might get people coming to help you put on a good size market with more stalls from those who would normally be attending other venues on those days. Unless you've already got stallholders and you're just advertising here to let visitors know to attend?

There are so many markets on a Sunday, and as Mo has said, the charity event for The Children In Need has been arranged for a while, and advertised a lot, so surely Natalie must have known about it. It would seem to be much more sensible to hold this one on a "market quiet " day.

Thank you all, but the problem is the majority of the Russians living here work week days they can do it only on Sunday but we will think about it anyhow.

So is it only Russians you are targetting either as stallholders or as customers?

Well that's ok then, it doesn't affect most of us.

why didn't you say it was for Russians? Posting on here, people think it is for everyone. shame, cos people like to take a look at anything that seems worth supporting. Or is this a question of linguistics, and you didn't REALLY mean Russians only?

it is for everybody but the Russians would like to take part also and it is our initiative that is why we organise it at a time convenient mostly for us.

The market at Baris Park is open for anyone to attend........ I for one booked a pitch and am English, also its on at a much more civilised time than the Sunday Boots, so it shouldn't interfere too much with them (in fact stall-holders could do both).

Its not the fault of the organisers, that the date was changed, you have to put the blame on the weather. And it was the Belediye who cancelled it without notice and re-schelduled it for this coming Sunday. Yes its a shame it clashes with Mo's Charity event, but I'm sure both will be well attended, with some people going to both !!!!

Good luck to both of the events. lets hope the weather is kind to us.
