i think u might need to search through some posts and im not best qualified to give u advice but its my understanding u need a work permit /visa for every place u perform in which makes it probably impossible or unmanageable for you to do this legally and this is not the eu - and i dont recommend getting on the wrong side of the law . also a lot of the hotels who have this type of entertainment tend to use turkish singers etc as a lot of the customers are from there or iran

Reynti has got it right. There has been a crack down on 'foreign' entertainers. Now those who cannot work for money are doing gigs for charity, using their talents and helping raising money for those less fortunate. this is quite different to paphos which of course is in EU and you have a right to be considered for work. this place (TRNC) is as the south was, and I know cos I was going to do just wha tyou want to do, and I couldn't because of work permits etc. Take a look at older postings re the clamp downs. But of coufrse if you wanted to come for 6 months and enjoy the sun but not expect money for work, then northern cyprus will welcome you with open arms. sorry to confirm message 3's bad news.

Do as others above have suggested and check out the old posts for information. I think you can perform on behalf of a REGISTERED charity but no payment for you is involved (probably other than a few expenses at the most)

I did see some old posts saying you cannot work, but then I keep seeing adverts on here ,for entertainment nights. surely they are not all for charity or is it a loophole in the law?

Probably the ones who like to take a risk. Recently been a young girl returned to the UK because the authorities told her she would have her equipment confiscated if she was seen performing again. If I was you would go South.

Sorry, no agencies to get you permits. Most of the entertainers do the charity gigs so they can perform, but no money in it. Just abit of 'fame' and feel good factor for helping others. sorry, Jon, but I really think you are on a loser Why don't you make enquiries for the south which is EU and which gives you a right to work, which does NOT apply hre. Or come out on a holiday and take a look! Speak to some of the entertainers here already.

I thought it came to light entertainers could pay their tax at the office if they got the correct forms from the venue they were playing at. One of the stipulations though is you must be only on a visa and not to be living here full time or have temporary residency stamp and the other find venues who are willing to have and submit the correct paperwork and pay the tax. This is when you negotiate; we submit I get paid X and pay Y and owner pays W. If I were you I would contact places where you think they maybe interested in you and find out the current rules and regs and then double check with the tax office your commitments. So many people its hearsay and due to the fact nobody likes to pay taxes it is always easier to say I can't do that, they won't let me work etc as paying taxes to be legal can be a case of I do not want to pay that.
