Why are certain members 'protected'?

I wonder why it is that certain Members on here are allowed to get away with insulting people, name calling, stalking, whatever takes their fancy and yet when another member tries to reply & defend them self it is immediately deleted!

Cronyism is rife on Cyprus 44

Still, I console myself that while I was out having a very pleasant evening with good friends, the best thing another sad member could find to do last night was sit on here all night making up fairy stories!

First of all the Forum Admin do not monitor every thread and every posting in every thread.

What appears to you to be favoritism is nothing more than what I have explained above. They have lives outside of 44 and rely more on e-mails from members complaining about threads/postings.

Again discussing your issues about moderation in public on the board will not win you any friends.

Have the decency to direct your concerns to the Forum Admin via e-mail.

Failing that go find another board that will give you what you want, you might be looking for some time.

Aj, Whilst I agree with you in principle there was obviously a Mod last night & this morning who monitored every thread of mine & deleted them! Had the post been closed and an explanatory message left saying which Mod had closed it then that's fair enough. But to simply delete two threads smacks of censorship in the worst way!

I don't normally have 'issues' about moderation...what I have 'issues' with is another member who seems to like to come on here and is allowed to insult me & a few other members with impunity!

First of all have you sent an e-mail to the Forum Admin asking for an explanation?

Secondly from what I have seen of some of your postings there is obviously some sort of personal vendetta going on and quite rightly regardless of who is posting that sort crap then it should be dealt with immediately.

There was a time when Forum Admin tried to e-mail those that were affected by thread/posting removals but unfortunately it became obvious that a good 60/70% of e-mail addresses were bounced because they were set up to just to gain membership and either subsequently cancelled or left dormant. I can assure you that from my experiences as a moderator on this board there is no bias towards any member. You should reappraise yourselves of the board rules and if you do not agree with them then find another board. The members should be helping Forum admin not hindering them.

Yes, as a mod AJ banned 6ms for some reason we do not know.

But in a recent thread requesting a vote on 6ms being banned again, AJ decried the idea. Surely if it was personal, even if he had not voted against 6ms, he would not have spoken against the idea of a ban.

I think I accept AJ's statement that he did not ban him from bias.

I'm not sure if certain members are protected, but some are certainly tolerated, we are all aware of the poster who regularly makes racist and offensive remarks and openly insults anyone who is deemed to be of lower intelligence than himself, in my opinion if anyone else did this at every opportunity they would be given a warning followed possibly by a ban.

Then there are the posters who have numerous identities on the board, I'm pretty sure most of us have a good idea who they are so I would expect admin to know too, but again they are tolerated, time and time again !

In addition there are posters who quite honestly just post crap, links that mean nothing, or that make no sense, who feel the need to comment on all and every post on the forum.

In all honesty though, does it really matter, these people need to be pitied rather than castigated, they obviously don't have much going on in their lives if that is the only way they can feel any pleasure, or superiority, just sad really.

The tone of AJ is slightly disturbing, surely a forum is exactly that, a public place where you can air your feelings good or bad. When you give someone a tad degee of 'power' ie moderator and they want private e-mails instead of open discussion and reply to post if you don't like it you can foxtrot oscar ! A.J, what this board has failed to remember time and time again is it would be nothing without those who post on it! Hence it is the peoples board because without posters it would be not be where it is today. We make or break it.

I do have to agree that the current Mods apear to not be dealing with those people who come here to ruin peoples reputation, just for the fun of it. Those who come here with one post to their name then start a fight with regular posters. Until everyone has to submit a current email address which works, it will stay the same.

Maybe the 44 admin should consider where they would be without us?

The nastiness was started on here while I was out. When I get home I always check my email as my husband works overseas so the internet is our contact. I was emailed by a friend with a link to the thread I was insulted on. I couldn't answer on that thread as it had been closed, I started another one, this was not closed but deleted in it's entirety. Shortly afterwards yet another thread I started was also deleted. I started this thread merely to ask why certain people can bully, insult & abuse other members as they think fit without fear of being banned. It seems to me there is some sort of clique on here!

I think we do an injustice to our fellow members in some respects and we should credit them with having the intelligence to spot the pedantic, abusive and downright rude posters and deal with them accordingly.



If each member refrained from responding to posts along the above lines then those members making such posts would eventually desist or mend their ways apart from those so set in their ways they cannot see what they are doing is wrong. Such members thrive in the spotlight, they crave attention. Take away the attention and they may just get the message.

Cyprus44 is a great forum for giving & receiving N Cyprus information and also great company for some of us who are 'home alone' a lot of the time - I've made some lovely friends on here!

There's bound to be the odd spa/disagreement with so many members but cyber bullying should never be tolerated!

Yes i was always the firestarter until three of me were logged in at once. I requested to AJ that firestarter was banned to stop the stupidity. I came back as Blade even unknown to the Mod's. I have looked recently and there still is a firestarter who logs in. Did they give my user name to someone else now? Currently i am not to bothered unless they start to damage my reputation. Would be nice to be me again,lol.

I have no idea who you are but must agree and do feel that the moderators are keeping any eye on just a handful of members on here.I am unable to post most of the time without them attacking and twisting everything.As what happened in the thread posted above ! No need to name and shame they know who they are and most members do too.I wish as Han's has posted above '' They would get off my back and leave me alone '' They will not be happy till I stop posting altogether as that is what they want ! and I have given up a few time because of it too.



But I hang on because members on here who know me '' Know'' and I have received a great deal of loving support too.As Polly say's..Never give up never give in I am proud of who I am.And happy that I can support others too.
