Tumba is the first place you come across on the left as you enter the main part of town coming up the hill. It has a small general shore next to it and a little further up on the same side is the petrol station. Its easy to spot with a large outdoor area and is traditional cypriot stone building inside.

It has a post office and a barber and is the size of a 'one horse dorp' but it's still only a village... come on...

it's a village and the Tumbar is a really nice place to eat - the bloke who owns the place (Shefki ?) really makes you feel welcome.

Every Wednesday! Well that is good news...

Yes Nick my point exactly Esentepe is a village...

Tumba (meaning 'taking a tumble' as the restaurant seems to be lodged on the side of a precipice) is a good honest eatery with a very friendly couple, Sefki and wife as good hosts.

Hi Guys

Esentepe is a village honest teatime and it a great place so is Tumba, but a bit clickey for us sometime the owner is an honest and good guy who is only trying to make a living, have been in for the quiz and its a hoot.

Nice to see that norma jean is trying to 'beef it up' like most places it is probably struggling, there is a good hotel just down the road english owned so give it a try as well it gives good value and the food is very good, so is esentepe restaurant, hati's, zerdeli, and the patisserie is yummy as well

groucho we all know you love the whole village and spread your hard earned cash around instesd of sticking to one place, good on ya.

come on Teatime... By that yardstick...if they had a stretcher you'd claim it was a National Health Service.. ;¬)

You can give people all sorts of high falutin titles 'til they come out of your ears it still doesn't turn what is essentially a village into a town...

Some people also call Girne a city.... do you think it ranks that title?

Mickey

I agree it's a great place, and so is the Tumba, you missed out Rosie's in your list, or was that on purpose?

But I did talk to some official, admittedly a few years ago now, and I said the way it's going it'll soon be a town and he replied "It already is a town", maybe I've been a bit gullible!!

Depends what you rank as a city. But if it is, then Esentepe's certainly a town.

Hi teatime,

Didn't mention rosies as it was not apt, it is closed for the winter and the thread was for special deals just now, all the places I mentioned are in the village and open at the mo, hope you dont mind

Esentepe is defo a village as it has a Muchter, please there are no Muchter's in town or city.

I would like to see the people who plug one place and frequent it all the time going to other places as well to show support for the WHOLE village or whatever, only a personal view mind, I know people who dont go here or there cos other people go in what a sad world, we all spend money so should all go round and support all that we find good

I also recommend going to all the coffee shops plus the sports club in Esentepe as they are all friendly and exceptionally cheap. Really you can't go wrong wherever you go in Esentepe.

Hati's (Hatice pronounced Hatta-J)is good too but complicated to explain the directions I think...

There are some signs if you go along the main street past the Belediye and take a left just after the Yapi Market and before Kim Market.

Mickey.

I know it has a Muhta, but it also has a Mayor, didn't think villages had one of these.

Agree with you about trying to visit as many of the local haunts as possible, it's important they are kept in business and after all 'variety is the spice of life'.

Groucho,

I would say the easiest way to direct people to Hati's is to turn left just after the Tumba and then just follow that road untilthey reach it i.e. keep going parrallel to the 'main' road.
