i just prefer it.

all the young computer geeks use it, so it must tell you something!

i only have dial up here in the place the communications world forgot, so down loads are a days event.

but even in the uk, we always used firefox .

Firefox is more secure.



To do a real speed test you need to have them both executing at the same type of transaction. If you run a broadband speed test in both of them you will see if there is any real difference.



I Use both but firefox is my favoured one.

I not only find Chrome faster than either Explorer or Firefox but a damn more reliable as well. The only downside is that they don't have a Google toolbar for their own product yet.

Speed results have more to do with you broadband connection than your browser.



It also depends which version of which version of which browser you've got running on which Operating system !!! When I test new websites it's done on multiple OS and browser platforms. To be honest, there's little real difference in 'speed'. Perhaps more important from the users point of view is how quickly the browser loads and how well it parses the HTML, Java etc.



At the moment, Firefox is considered to be in the lead, but the differences are negligible.

Firefox is much better all round.



Sites look better in it, it loads faster, security is better.

Ask a web developer and they will tell you how much they loathe Internet Explorer.

Chrome is good too, in fact Camino, Flock ,Safari, opera any of them but Internet Explorer!

Please don't mixture BROWSING with DOWNLOAD when you want to compare speeds.

The download speed has (almost) nothing to do with your browser choice. As for the browsing most pros and cons are usually refer to familiarity with the individual user interface. For example, history management is very important but commonly overlooked factor. Or how many external plugins installed...



Personally I use Firefox although it is clearly optimised for Linux ,not for Windows. On windows Firefox is not faster than IE, but my choice is mostly based on its security and various user friendly features.

I use all Chrome/Firefox and Opera - with IE the last resort - only if a certain site will only work with it.



Crome is the fastest to load, but still has poor support for some multi media apps - e.g when in BBC iplayer no option to download - only stream :(



IE ver 8 seems to be VERY slow and trying to copy the best functions from Firefox / Chrome or Opera

I agree with Magbs - browsing & dowload should not be mixed when looking at speeds. which will depend more on your computer setup and choice of ISP/connection.



I have used Explorer/firefox & other browsers on both windows & Linux, and i have found (so far) that firefox comes out best on both operating systems.



Personal choice is probably what will govern your selection, but my main concern with IE is security, it has been proven to be open to attack, despite assurances by Microsoft. It also uses uses up more memory & resources.



Firefox is more user friendly in my opinion, and has add-ons/plug-ins for different uses.

I am not a fan of the google toolbar, and do not like the way it orientates itself to your ISP location in IE, and again seems very insecure.
