Have you talked with Chris about this as she might have people who could not attend the one that NurseAwfull ran last month. By the way are the written reports available in English?

From past experience the reports come in Turkish however you will be seeing 2 consultants who will go through everything with you.

I would say yes, they are available in English but generally there is a small charge for that service therefore it would be wise to enquire the cost before asking for this service at the hospital.

We seem to have had quite a few viewings for this but hardly any takers?

This is a fantastic offer and as long as you make your appointment before the 20th November 2011 you will qualify for this price.

Hi

My husband would like to take up this offer but unfortunately we are going to the UK until the end of February. Is there any chance that his appointment could be in March sometime or is that too far away.

Thanks

Waddo,

Thank you very much for pointing out my error.

Sorry, I was getting confused (comes with age) as the ladies finishes on the 20th November 2011.

BUT

To qualify for the men's you MUST book BEFORE the end of November 2011, your appt may well be in December but do not worry as they are only taking so many per day and will honour all appts after the end of November 2011 at 300TL.

Hope that clarifies things and I apologise for the confusion.

Scoobdoo. I know this is a great test, but why is the NEU charging TL 300 when the same test has just been carried out by the LIFE HOSPITAL for TL200, there were many takers so maybe there are not many males who need the test left in North Cyprus??

Msg14,

dvdjohn,

The NEU is charging 100TL, just as they did with the Ladies Cancer Campaign which incidentally is still on for another 5 days, as it includes a 3D Lung Graphy. This is where your lungs are scanned/pictured from the front, back and sides whereas a normal chest x-ray would only show a less detailed picture from the front plus we found out that the NEU are including some extra tests including checking your head, neck etc.

Once I get the full information on this I will post on here.

Re Msg 15

The first sentence should read:

The NEU is charging the EXTRA 100TL, .....................

Apologies if this caused any confusion but I was answering dvdjohn's msg 14 and looks like I did not make it clear enough.

To confirm the total price of all these tests is 300TL.

Msg 10 - chunky;

I have spoken to the NEU re your husband/his travel dates and they confirmed that March is too late however if they extend this campaign, and this is purely dependant upon the number of men applying, they may well be able to accept him.

I can only suggest that you keep an eye on this thread as we will be putting it out on here if there is an extension of the dates.

This morning the NEU have confirmed that for this campaign only:

1. They will provide (for free) your reports in English if you ask for them BUT YOU MUST TELL THEM AT THE BEGINNING (ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPT) THAT YOU DO NOT want them in Turkish. If you say nothing then you will get them in Turkish and will have to pay for them to be put in English.

2. If you have had any blood tests or ultrasounds in the 2 months prior to your appointment, please take them along with you to your appointment so that they have something to compare with.

3. These tests will take most of the day.

4. Please do not eat before your blood tests are done on the day of your appointment.

In addition to the tests above in msg 1, I can now confirm that you will also have an examination at the ENT department this will include checking for nodes, lesions and masses. These additional tests are included in the 300TL.

Hi there,

So glad that you are offering a cancer check for the men as well. I have just done the women's cancer check at the Ozel Hospital. for 200TL which was fantastic value. The tests only took me about 15 minutes for the chest x-ray and blood sample, plus returning later for the smear test, then a couple fo return trips for the results, is there more to the men's that it will take all day? Plus, is it only NEU that are offering the men's tests? I would like my partner to take advantage of this offer and wondered if they are offering anything in Girne?

Thank you for organising these days.

My wife has just done the ladies one so it's great that men also have the opportunity... Is it possible to have somewhere in Girne that will do it?

Thanks for your help.

Only the NEU will work with Help Those With Cancer Association/Tulips on the Men's tests this year.

The Association is 'hoping' to run a Men's Cancer Health Check in March 2012.

If you can get to Lefkosa then this campaign is well worth your partner taking part with all that is offered at 300TL.

Gentlemen,

There seems to be a distinct lack of applicants from you all.

We know that most men seem to think that they are ok and there is nothing wrong with them but please consider this; you only have one chance of life and if you don't look after your body - then who will?

Please join this cancer campaign, these tests are a fantastic offer and they are very important to you and your wellbeing. This campaign has been put together for you!

Cancer is a silent killer until it is too late - sounds scarey, well it is! We are sure that you all know someone that has suffered this terrible disease but if caught early then chances of survival increase tremendously.

The feedback we have had from the ladies that attended the NEU has been excellent.

Come on you guys that haven't been checked out its only a couple of hours out your life.

Message 29 was one of two guys who had the health checks at Cyprus Life (Medikent) last year who were diagnosed with prostate cancer and had NO symptoms, this year as far as I know there has been another one.

These checks are important, it can mean the difference between you seeing your grandchildren grow up or not!

Thank you for the link.

I saw your message on Rolly's thread and hopefully you sharing your experience will urge some men on to get in touch with us for this offer, we can only keep our fingers crossed!

On a personal note, I would like to wish you all the luck in the world with the trials you are about to embark on.

Good Morning (I think!)

We really need men to apply to go on these tests we are unbelieveably lacking in applicants.

It seems that there is very little interest in a Mens Anti Cancer Health Campagin.

Those who have applied have all been answered so if you have not received an email please check in your spam box and/or email us again.

It could save your life and the comprehensive number of tests that you get for your money is amazing, a small price to pay for peace of mind don't you think? Book your place now!

Waddo,

Glad to hear you are getting over the 'man' flu and you are on the road to recovery!

Ring the hospital as soon as because it will likely be a few weeks before you get your appt but don't worry if it is after the 30th November 2011 as you will still be charged 300TL as long as you book BEFORE the 30th November 2011.

My friend went yesterday to Cyprus Life and he said the tests and services were excellent. He was under the impression that he would pay 300ytl but it came to 676ytl which was a shock no one said he would pay more as he is over 50. Now he has to go again for another test which is 200 ytl. Its a lot of money for a pensioner to find.

Deniz1,

Your friend phoned me yesterday and I really don't know where he got that figure from he was always told it was going to be 660 tl for the full check. The Tulips campaign was not announced until the 15th and is only being done at NE hospital. Also I am sure he was booked before then! I can't comment on the other test he is going for as I don't know but they would not be doing it without good reason.

Chris

p.s. The reason for the raised price in men over 50years is that they have more tests.

Good morning everybody,

I have just seen msg 40 and now understand the confusion over some of the emails we are now receiving on the tulips email address.

Msg40 has been kindly addressed by nurseawful as it appears it has nothing to do with the Tulips Mens Cancer Campaign.

Tulips has arranged a set fee of 300TL at the NEU Hospital ONLY - that's the price, irrespective of your age, for the tests that are have listed above.

Should you require any further tests as a result of those listed, then (and only then) will you be asked to pay extra for the extra tests.

I hope this is clear but if anyone has any queries at all, please do not hesitate to contact us on:

tulipscarole@yahoo.com

Hi Sue,

I will ask the obvious then. How would I know if any of the tests I undertook was a listed or an extra test? And if it was an extra test would I be given the option of having it or just crawling back under my rock to worry for a while?

I only ask because cash flow is strict in this household as I am sure it is in many more - perhaps this factor is what stops a lot of people going for the tests? To find out you are sick with something when you feel good would be depressing and then to have to find funds to cure it may not be possible.

Come on guys have a crack at the tests - in the worst case we can follow Milligan's words on the old tombstone - "I told you I was ill!!"

Hi Waddo,

Sorry for the delay in coming back to you, I was out selling raffle tickets in this glorious sun!

All the tests that you are going for are listed on the document that I sent you with the exception of the ENT. You will be taking that document with you however you do have to hand this letter over to the staff at the beginning of the day so please make a note of the tests due to be done either from here in msg 1 or from that list. Also remember to ask if you want your results in English at the beginning of the day and NOT at the end when it is too late.

When you talk to the doctors with all your results they will confirm if there is something that needs following up, at this stage I would ask them for a complete price for what they are suggesting, if the doctors cannot give this to you go back down to reception and ask to speak to someone in the accounts department and they will be able to price any procedures for you.

I trust this helps if not please email us.

As long as you book your appointment before the 30th November 2011 you will qualify for the 300TL price irrespective of when your actual appointment is.

We do have some men who are getting appointments in January 2012, if that will help make your decision for you!

email: tulipscarole@yahoo.com for further information.

Hi Sue,

Booked in for 08:00 (dark o'clock) on the 3rd of January - earliest date I could get. Can not believe the range of tests that I am going to have and all for 300TL! As I am over 50, quite a bit actually, then it will probably be a two day event. First day early morning blood tests then given a breakfast ticket and can eat again - good oh. After that have been told it will be all day tests and things plus probably will have to go back for the next morning to speak with the consultants and get my "English" results. All the staff I spoke to were happy and friendly and more helpful than in any other hospital I have ever been to.

Guys, don't miss this chance - I don't want to go either but why not give it a try?

Remember that it is up to you what you do after you have the results anyway.

Well it's now the last day to book your place, I strongly suggest you do so if you haven't already. I already know of one man who had the full MOT at Cyprus Life and now faces 8 months of grueling and aggressive chemotherapy, after his operation last month. And know he is not an old man! 300tl is a bargain please take this last opportunity to have these tests done.

It has taken a lot for me to go for this test - born coward and getting worse as I get older - and I now read on another thread about the NEU and unhappy customers of the dental department there.

To make it clear, this is not going to put me off going for the check but I will check with other Dr's/Hospitals if my results show I need further treatment following the check up - I think this would only be sensible.

Go have the checkup guys, if nothing else it will either set you minds at rest or give you something else to worry about!!

To put some humor into the situation - I only need my results to give me more than 6 months to live and I will at least have won and gained some of my tax money back by getting my first OAP!!!! After that its gravy all the way folks.
