Query about Skype TRNC

I've had Skype for years and in the past I've been able to press an Icon/drop down menu which would allow me to check if someone was registered as a Skype User, or to check if I had the correct Skype name. I now have the latest version of Skype and can't find that facility. I've been on to Skype "help" which I find as helpful as a chocolate teapot (it might be just me of course!!) Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks.

If you use 'Contacts', 'Add Contact', type the person's name in and then display those found with a matching name... it works for me.

I used to be able to see the numbers next to the contact name on my list now i cant. Why do they change things? I have several contacts of the same name and never know who i am calling.

All part and parcel of the takeover of SKYPE by Microsoft, prior to charging you for everything no doubt.

If you search the net you can find downloads available of the old version.

When you have your list of contacts on screen, right click on each and select 'view profile'. That'll allow you to see mobile phone nos. etc. as you go just in case you're not sure who you're talking to!

Msg.6 I'm fine with the few people etc that I have displayed, but to add insult to injury earlier this year my hard drive melted and I had to start from scratch with EVERYTHING, hence I lost 90% of Skype addresses and am slowly trying to built up the 100+ that I had before. Thanks Groucho, I will certainly try what you suggested.



Msg. 5 If worst comes to worse, then I might try an earlier version. having said that I do find the Webcam facility far, far better than it used to be and the sound quality is very nearly perfect all the time.
