Hi Tom, make sure that there is water in all of the traps on the fittings in the room ie wash basin, shower. If you have a floor drain in the bathroom also make sure that there is water in this. I note you are in Bahceli, i also live there so if you still have a problem give me a ring on 05338746345. Geoff.

| You could try:- Moisten a cloth with undiluted white vinegar and use it to wipe down the tank, seat and pedestal of the toilet. Pour 3 cups of white vinegar into the bowl of your toilet and allow it to sit for 1 hour. Sprinkle baking soda on the inside walls of your toilet's bowl. Scrub the bowl of the toilet with a toilet brush. Add 1 cup vinegar and 1/2 cup baking soda every few days to your toilet and let it sit overnight to deodorize the area and kill any mould or mildew. also cut/paste How to Cure a Smelly Toilet | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_8115303_cure-smelly-toilet.html#ixzz1dyxFEjmw |

I doubt that it is the toilet bowl unless it never gets cleaned. So long as there is water in the bowl then smells cannot get into the room from the bowl. Do as Geoff suggests re other traps. The other possible cause will be either a leaking bowl (unlikely) or the wc connector. The fins tend to dry out and even shrink allowing the smell to pass by.

Our smells were not actually caused by the loo but by the washing machine which is in the same room, the pipe that empties the water down into the cesspit did not have a plug around the hose and the smells were awful.

And sometimes the builders forget to fit the seal under the bowl.Try sealastic around the base of the pan.

This may be caused by a blockage in the main drain causing a back up of material, remove your drain covers to see if this the issue - if it is simply rod the drain to release material.

We had the same problem and I had our builder/plumber out to look at it lots of times. They could never sort it so I had to do it myself. If we didn't use it for a while the smell went away, but as soon as it was used for a no.2 then it was such an awful smell. The outlet from the back of Cyprus toilets are 80mm dia, and this then fits via a cheap adaptor ring into the 100mm plastic trap and then into the below ground drain. If this adaptor was not fitted correctly, then over time it will be an area for blockage and if you flush toilet roll then it's going to happen. This blockage will then be where the smell is coming from as the connection is above the trap line. Check all your other traps first, but I suspect that the only way you will sort this out will be doing what I had to do and taking the toilet off and re-fitting.

We had the same problem in our downstairs bathroom. Cleaning, bleaching and scrubbing made it worse! Husband noticed that there was no u bend in the pipe behind the sink, he created one in the pipe and problem was instantly solved.

Just a thought as it happened to us, is the cesspit or septic tank needing emptied, the local Bele do it for about 50 tl and it should be done every 18 mths or 2 years if you live in the house full time

We cleared our smell away by taking the tops off a couple of outside drain covers and giving the pipes a poke around and then used the garden hose on as high a pressure as we could. There was certainly a blockage there caused by a combination of hard water, washing powder and dishwasher tablets. The smell went away almost immediately We now use liquid in both dish washer and washing machine and the problem has never come back.
