Hi, I looking for somewhere to buy art equipment from, I am hoping to start painting (acrylic's have been mentioned as the best starting point??) and as I have absolutely nothing, I could do with a shop/shops that stock pretty much everything. I called into Deniz Plaza at Kyrenia and had a look around, is there anywhere else that you would recommend?? Thanks.

Deniz Plaza is the only place in the North - that I know of - they have most things except artists quality watercolour, goodness knows why as there are lots of watercolour artists here! I get my watercolours and some acrylics mail order from the UK, but I'd think you'd get enough choice of material to start you off from Deniz Plaza.

They really have most things now. The one in Famagusta is bigger than in Girne, never been in the one in Nicosia

One advice, my husband is the artist and wanted a particular paper. There were several stacks of drawing pads, but he could not see what we wanted. Our friend(a Cypriot) said look at every pad and yes, they were all mixed up and we found what we wanted. The shop girl did not know anything.

The larger Deniz Plaza on the Lapta Road has a much larger range of Art materials than the shop on the High Street. They are even knocking out Easels at 50tl. A bargain!! Tony

Have you tried the art/framing shop which is close to the hospital and courts on the main road in Girne?
