To the people who use this forum to advertise their businesses , it was agreed some time back that you could post one new Topic per establishment per day , and not to use the " back to top " yourselves to keep bringing your advert to the forefront .

Many thanks , Simbas

Msg 2, continued.

Posts by usually anonymous posters (also often with one or more false ID's) inspired by blind hatred. Any post is fine for them to join and start their disgusting rantings. A post about a nice place in TRNC, a free map or whatever - there they go again. I don't understand why such posts are not deleted.*

Why not only let those that pay for advertisments advertise on here using the spaces allocated on the forum. It would stop the constant advertising by certain nonpaying establishments and individuals.

Those that do pay for advertising space must be sick of seeing the nonpayers getting more advertising for free than they do.

Hear hear Ed1957, the board is becoming one giant advertising medium, and many contributors dont give good quality information, some of them see somebody asking something and they just google for an answer and post it without actual knowledge of it, stupid really!

Surely as important, or even more important, is that any post critical or another race, nation or religion should be immediately deleted and the poster banned for ever?

If not then you and the other moderators are telling the world that you find these posts acceptable and indeed endorse them.

Moderators, your comments please.

A gentle reply from an" advertiser.".........I LIKE to thank those customers who have posted on the forum for their kind words.(free ad)Also, several months ago, I did my very best to expose a dodgey trader to those wanting him to do work for them...they fell for his "offer" and lost good money(free ad).I have also pointed out that to employ non-work permit holders("I have retired but will work for beer £") is illegal and can result in both parties being deported.(serious onfo +ad)

Of course this is "advertising" but it is also important information. As to whether or not the reader takes on board the advice is up to them...as is who they choose to do work for them from the forum's recommendations/slagging/ banter.....its all advertising. The "back to the top" is a pain, but we can ignore them and they do go away---eventually .

And, by the way, you are of course right about multiple identities.

But you shouldn't think that your multiple identities are not obvious to those capable of looking.

You have three identities from one IP address.

To get back to the original post, yes, can people using the forum to advertise please just post once and refrain from constantly using BTT,or better still can we have a section for businesses as we do for events.

Thank you Shrimp , advertisers have been respectfully asked to limit their new Topics to one a day , and to stop using " back to top " to bring it back to the forefront again . To continue will incur a suspension of your posting rights for a period of time with no pre warning .

Thank you , Simbas

Hi Simbas, We have asked you on more then one occasion to make our post and sticky to avoid back to top, that is obviously the one most on at the moment, the Carnival Car Boot in aid of Children in Need, we are doing this one for charity and it is non profit making, I have also sent an email to your advertising department who have not got back to me. If you would like to discuss this post with me or it is a problem please e-mail on barbcyprus@gmail.com and then we can discuss this.

in my humble opinion i think that there should only be recomendations for any type of buisiness not self promotion then we could cut down on the no of posts to trawl through

Advertisers that do not pay for their advertising are still posting more than 1 topic a day and bringing back to tops forward . Short bans have been given to the persistant offenders , but to no avail , also they have had people post a new topic on their behalf . There will now be a longer ban if this continues and for the people posting on their behalf . Please just stick to the rules

Thanks , Simbas

Could we also please ensure that items for sale have "for sale" in the title as there appears to be quite a few things on the main board at the moment.

Why is this ban on BTT not being enforced?

this is not an exciting or informative site anymore. People need the time to trawl through the plugs for predictable busineses... evry thursday the weekend restaurant ads start yawn yawn

simbas, can we please have a 'report abuse' alert system?, this will make it easy not to have to patrol the board 24/7

While he's at it can he ask the developers to move all adverts and requests for taxis from the general board to the 'taxi' section as happens to all the correctly marked 'For Sale' items.... Those selling and those looking for taxi services would then know where to find each other without cluttering up the main section with endless taxi adverts and requests... The taxi section exits and the posts are ranked in there but they remain in the main section which is daft...
