I would like to know why a posting which was as disgusting in its content as the one "Reporting" the murder of Greek Monks by Catholics has been removed and the original offending post remains. I posted as a protest against Hans Doodleman's sectarian offensive remarks.

Here's the "offending" post (Cyprus history from almost 800 - EIGHT HUNDRED - years ago..!):

"A.D. 1230: ... and they, all Christians, quarrelled there about "Leavened" vs. "Unleavened Bread". Later, ordered by the Pope and the King of Cyprus, two Greek Orthodox monks found martyrdom through a cruel murder by their fellow-Christians from the competitive Roman Catholic church..."

Your complaint in your post # 1, about an almost 800 years old historical fact in Cyprus (still commemorated by believers in the South of this island), is really funny. To put it mildly.

Hey ho, Mr Vince, let's burn all history books... And let's burn the historians also - which, by the way, is an old Roman Catholic habit.

Mr Vince

If you have a problem with moderation of this board then I would suggest you e-mail the Forum Admin direct rather that trying to stir up trouble on the board.

Mr Vince

I have no axe to grind either way here, but I think you are being a tad "over-zealous" about DC's posting. It is something that happened many centuries ago; hardly worth getting all worked up over it now, surely?

Oh and I forgot to add, failing that find another board that pampers to your beliefs. I am sure there must be some other board/boards that will tolerate your attitude.

Mr Vince is absoluterly right ....

...and probably speaks for the silent majority who find this kind of misleading tag offensive.

Typical deception of DC who seems to think this kind of thing is clever, rather than a truer tag thus making his both offensive and far from clever. I believe the term Roman Catholic first came into use in the 17th century so reporting on an inter-religeous crime from the 12th century and mis-using names just shows a lack of intelligence and certainly research.

But then what's new?

A fair complaint by Mr Vince both for the deception, lack of fact, probity and dumbness of the tag.

Regards Joseph.

As you may be aware it is very hard to post a thread tag that explains explicitly what you want to present to the wider public. I would ask one question, on reading DC's primary posting on that thread how would you have changed the title of the thread or did you and Mr Vince find DC's first posting on the thread offensive also?

Why don't you and your friend DC buzz off back to your own failing board instead of trying to justify his stupidity on here?

I can't believe people are upset about DC's informative post. He is interested in the history of Cyprus and that is good. He starts interesting threads, sharing information he has found. I find his posts helpful. Why do people always seem to have their claws out, ready to pounce on him?

Hi Dave how are you

During my academic years I spent some time carrying out historic research.

There were three fundamentals which were vital and one never overstepped the mark on any of these otherwise you would never be published and your work was flawed.

Clinical.. your work must be exhaustive and remain unemotional so enabling you to remain neutral.

The tag was emotive as proved by Mr Vince's replies.... cross one.

Factual... again you remained with proven or testified facts otherwise all your work became questionable and unreliable.

Tag was poorly researched as the terminology used only came into use 500 years after the fact... cross two.

Truth... this was paramount for obvious reasons and as can be seen from the above deserves... cross three

Hope this puts into perspective why I supported Mr Vince's objection and yes original post was poorly tagged but in my opinion when reading it not worth a reply because as I say it was misleading misinformation.

AngelaT, you are correct DC does post some interesting stuff about the history of Cyprus but when he doesn't get the desired attention he craves then he resorts to sarcasm.....just look at his comments on here http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/78754.asp

Hello Turtle

I only look at certain threads so maybe have missed some of his comments.

Maybe his replies are in self-defence? He seems to get a fair bit of abuse himself. I'm not sure. You have been a member for a few years so have seen a lot more of his posts than me.

All I know is that there seem to be far nastier characters on here than him. At least he actually contributes something. Some people just come on here to be nasty.

Thank for your educated reply and it is good to see you posting again. It makes a change to have a discussion with some one that is willing to reply sensibly.

I have read your reply but I re-ask my original question differently, if we took away the original thread title would yourself and Mr Vince have taken umbrage at the first posting of the thread?

It would be good if Mr Vince would take part in this discussion as well but I do not hold out much hope

With reference to postings 8 & 9, do you both really expect a reply from me ?

AJ
