During a discussion I was involved in the subject was brought up of the money from tickets sales for the above organisations. It was stated that 80% of the money taken in ticket sales went to Hotel Lambousa to pay for electricity, bar staff, etc. So how do they manage to put on such good shows? Also it was said the members of the Choir had a pay a monthly subscription to help pay for the musical director, must be dedicated people to pay for the privilege of singing. Keep it up.

80% of ticket sales seems very steep indeed. I am surprised he has not responded to this !

The KLD charge a fee of only 5tl a session and to join 10tl for the year..All these proceeds go to their charity they support throughout the year now that seem very fair.

If Château Lambousa provide the rehearsal space in addition to the show venue then the costs are a lot higher than just the costs incurred when the show is open to the ticket buying public... just a thought.

A theatre company/ chorus group who wants to put on a show/play in the UK only get into the theatre 2/3 days before the show and this costs a lot of money. The Chateau Lambousa theatre/ chorus groups can use the Barrons theatre all year round with no charge thanks to Celebrity Hotel management. The electricity bill alone for this use must be a lot of money.

So, as I thought, the money from ticket sales helps to cover the costs of the year-round rehearsal room provision too... not such a bad deal as some would like to make out.

If the choir and theatre groups are comfortable with the arrangement, I don't think it's becoming for outsiders to start threads the aims of which are possibly to show Gordon in a bad light. Perhaps a bit more research should have been done before the negative connotations were inflicted upon a wider audience?

It's only what we've come to expect on this forum, why do people do it.

It's worth noting that on top of this, Gordon (or the Celebrity Hotels group) have also dug deep into their pockets in providing cash both this year and last for the upgrading of the stage, sound and light equipment, scenery etc and without this help neither Chorous or Theatre Lambousa would be able to stage their presentations to the high standard that we have come to expect.

But they need your support - this year's pantomime is going to be spectacular and although some nights are already full, tickets are still available for Friday December 2nd and Thursday December 8th. Previous threads have given the contact numbers, but a booking office will be open at Lambousa Market this Saturday!

re message 2. Why oh why do people feel the need to use this forum for spiteful comments such as this? I doubt very much that this person has any idea whatsoever of the true costs of allowing various groups to be fortunate enough to use the theatre as and when.

Such faceless comments put at risk the availability of this venue for those groups who do not have 'an axe to grind', thereby denying the wider public the treats of Panto, comedy theatre and musical evenings..... If you have a problem, speak face to face with those concerned, this forum is not the vehicle for such a post.

I think you , Groucho have 'hit the nail on the head' in both your posts.
