DAGLEISH DISHES UP LIVE MUSIC FOR DINERS!

In this weekend's Cyprus Today [Leisure Section ... page 5], Brian Thomas's feature on yours truly quotes Efendi's owner Andy Radford, 'He performs a satirical type of folk music'. Has Andy coined, even invented a new 'music genre'? My U.K. agent is tickled pink with the new 'tag-line', so thanks to Andy, either way.

Perhaps the 'folk' who have seen me perform over the last week or so might have a thought on this?

Contrary to Cyprus Today's insistence that I am 'staying in the TRNC for several months', I will only be here for a few weeks, at most, so do catch me while you can! Aside from the 'satirical' originals, you'll also hear songs from my heroes; Neil Young, Joni Mitchell ... to name but two.

This week, I will be performing at:

Sheraz, Catalkoy tomorrow evening Tuesday 25th November, from 8.30 p.m.

Efendi, Old Turkish Quarter, Girne on Friday evening 25th from 8.30 p.m.

Old Mill, Ozankoy Sunday lunchtime 27th from 2

Thanks, Claire!

BBC2's Mike Harding [a.k.a. the Rochdale Cowboy], who 'pioneers' folk music on 'mainstream' radio, has got himself into a right slanging match with internet D.J.Bob Meyer [Bob's Folk Show, Radio Wey] because he feels that today's [allegedly 'folk'] singer-songwriters are self-indulgent, quoting Tom Paxton's old saying, 'only one key ... doh, ray, me, me, me.' Bob's 'sounding like an out-of-date twat' response has set the folk scene a-rocking overnight. Bob's carp is that 'mainstream' folk music is bland because the BBC are not in touch with 'new' folk music - he champions emerging artists, of which -allegedly - I'm one, who balance writing introspective songs with observational, and even political stuff, perhaps 'satirical' as Efendi's Andy has observed.

Anyway guys, bulletin over.

Come on out to SHERAZ, Catalkoy TONIGHT Tuesday 22nd [music from 8.30] and judge for yourselves.
