To my knowledge there is no active specific rock climbing club here, however there maybe some active climbers.

There is certainly a very active climbing community on the Greek side some of which are ex pats.

There is at least one climbing wall in South Nicosia which would be a good place to meet up with the local scene.

The best bet would be through UKC.com there is a Cyprus section.

As regards climbing here there are lots of opportunities I would love to be able to climb with him myself but unfortunately the body is past it. I can of cause point out many of the routes here some of which I climbed myself a number (well a lot) of years ago.

I have found a good climber who will help me this side, but perhaps I can contact you next March for your knowledge.

Nicky Msg 1 - if your son is over long enough would he want to go to Antalya and from there about 120Km to an activity centre that offers rock climbing and training?

Ex-rock climber myself - Rock Leader qualified. You might need to check with either/both Police and Turkish military about permission to climb in TRNC. I was told permits were required.

Msg 1, Hutch .....

I have a friend who wrote a climbing guide for Pentadaktylos many years ago. It's out of print now but I'd be happy to send you a scan if you email me.

Msg 7, Hippo ....

Archie Jeffrey is alive and well and lives on the West Coast of Scotland in the shadow of Ben Nevis. Whilst his climbing days are over he's still a keen hillwalker with an absolutely encyclopeadic knowledge of the Scottish Mountains.

I hadn't realised that anyone else contributed to the guide, but know that Archie climbed them all before putting pen to paper. Some he free climbed, others he did with friends from the RAF or who lived around Bellapais at the time.

Feel free to email me and I'll put you in touch.
