Has anybody seen electric blankets for sale recently. I have been to Stormax (sold out more coming in 3 weeks), Mermaid Fabrics, Tektan and China Bazaar to no avail. Any ideas??

Wish I could help you. I find shopping here quite difficult - no one store like your B & Q's, Homebase, Marks, Debenhams etc ( Unless you cross the border for Deb's) We went out today for 2 items and came home empty handed - used a lot of petrol though!!!

Jo

Saw some today at Tektan in Girne. They have a shop in the high street - quite a way down on the right hand side and a bigger store (which is where I saw them) up one of the streets on the left hand side of the high street, towards the army barracks. Hope this helps.

I had to go down South to get the super kingsize sheepskin variety (with 2 individual heat controllers). I think they were about 80Euro last year. I realise they are more expensive than the above, but well worth the money. The trouble with SOME of the others, they don't cover the whole of the mattress area, but just the "bit in the middle" as it were.

Thanks to everybody for the info. For clarification, this is for my friend who lives in Portugal and travels here via the UK. She is really just looking for a cheap, lightweight electric blanket like the ones they have in Stormax (25TL last year I seem to remember) otherwise she will pick one up in the UK.

She is here visiting friends and will be travelling back to Portugal, where she lives, over the weekend. Probably deserves an apology for comment made by Rowlo.

How can Rowlo be taking orders for electric blankets when he doesn't indicate how to contact him?Plus he doesn't answer my questions, see messages 18 and 23. Not the best of sales pitch!

Silentnight electric blankets are not made by Silentnight, but by another company that bought the right to market them under their name.Same as pillows, mattress protectors etc.

At one time the electric blankets used to come in two types, 1) Underblanket which had to be switched off before going to bed and 2) overblanket which could be used all night. Am I right in presuming that now they are all overblankets?

Rowlo,

Can you supply double with double control, one for each half?

Electric imports for commercial purposes are subject to import licence and for that you need a positive report from the Chamber of Electrical Engineers. The voltage must be 230 or 240 volts. 220 volts are not allowed. Telecommunication equipment require positive report from the telecom office.

Normally I fax the details to the Chamber in the morning, my report is ready by about 11 am and then I take it to the relevant ministry same day for my import licence. Its an occasion for saying Hello to old friends.
