you saw a shirt worth 97tl and didn't have any cash, so u borowed 50tl from John and 50tl from Mike,

now you have 100tl. Since the shirt is 97tl, you have 3tl left after buying the shirt.

you returned 1tl to John then 1tl to Mike leaving you with 1tl.

Now you owe John 49tl and Mike 49tl which is =98tl, plus the 1tl with you=99tl..

Where is d missin one tl?

there's no missing 1 tl if you add the 1 tl each you paid the guys that makes 101 tl so you gained a lira - well that's how I read it anyway Lizzie

This kind of "maths" with different figures was doing the rounds when I was a small boy. The same old principle of adding up apples and oranges together.

Same as the eleven fingers trick. Count each finger from one to ten, then count backwards on your left hand. ten, nine, eight, seven, six. then add the right hands five fingers, wow you have eleven fingers.

3 men went to a cafe for dinner

the bill came to 30TL

The waiter took the 30Tl and gave it to the manager but because they are friends with the manager the manager gave thm 5TL discount so the bill came to 25TL

The waiter unable to divide the 5TL between 3 decided to keep 2TL and give 1TL each back to the customer,

The customers were happy that they only paid 9TL each

9 x 3 = 27

+ 2 = 29

where is the 1TL

?

Erkin, As you well know the owner has 25 the men have 3 and the waiter 2. You have added the 2 TL to the wrong equation.

Exactly; the men pay 27, the waiter takes 2 and 25 goes to the manager.

JJ is right. You borrowed £100. You expended that £100 getting in return a shirt worth 97TL and 3TL in coins! You then owed £100 - whether you repaid it in installments is irrelevant. The 1TL is yours!

It would have been easier if you had given John and Mike one and a half TL each - and later repaid them 58 and a half each - but from my experience here the shop would n't have had the change!

If the bill is 25 divided by 3 =8.33.3 + the 1 back = 9.33 the three 33.3's adds to the one, so the three me have it divided.

No that's wrong.

If the bill is 20 divided by 3 =6.60 + the 1 back = 7.60- 3x7.60= 22.80 - the waiter has 2 tl, so there's 0.20 missing. Don't add up to me, could be a wind up.

So this means each one of the fellas has paid the waiter 9, so 27. Manager also gave the waiter 5 so

27+5 = 32.

From this money, waiter took 2

32-2 =30.

I dont know what all the fuss it about.

Of course none of this is relevant if the person buying the shirt had been a woman! She'd have borrowed the 100TL from her husband, not paid it back and would of been a new shirt and 3 TL better off!

With the level of creative acccountancy on this thread, people are wasting their time here - they should go back to the UK and offer their services to the Chancellor of the Exchequer or Governor of the Bank of England ! They could do with someone who can produce coins out of thin air.
