Traditionally, I thought that parsley sauce with a drop of vinegar was what you had with pie & mash, so I can't see anything wrong with what Phil has posted?

My Mum's favourite was stewed eels, mash and liquor

What is the need to post the reciepe, when it is parley sauce, and the vinegar is available on the counter.

Or do the members not know how to make parsley sauce. I have eaten this dish for a long time.

There you are John - you like yours with parley sauce and others may prefer theirs with parsley sauce

Pie, mash and liquor with loads of chilli vinegar and white pepper. Mothers milk, nectar, food of the gods even! Definately not an "east end" thing, most parts of urban London really.

Is pie and mash a regular Friday special? It was my absolute favourite when I was little, haven't eaten it for years.

Eh lad none of this Southern scran, how about some tripe or a good cow heel. To me pies should be with gravy. Parsley sauce? whats the world coming to, that is with fish is it not.

But without the stewed eels you can't make the liquor - as it's made from the water the stewed eels are boiled in!

Looking forward to trying the pie and mash on my next visit.
