Can any type of criminal conviction stop you getting residency or make you unable to buy property. If true why is this it seems a bit unfair. I believe criminal convictions leave your record after ten years in the uk, so they would not show anyway. I have friends with criminal records and they can buy property in non eu countries. Can someone tell me how it is just out of curiosity.

Maybe in the near future you will not need residency and these conviction laws will be dropped.

Message 1: Hi Steve. You are right. Lots of crimes are wiped from a criminal record after 10 years. However, any crimes which are related to drugs or violence will never come off a record. They stay on permenantly. I'm not sure how things work in the TRNC but seeing that these are the types of crimes that stay on a record maybe these are the ones that affect residency.

Rowlo You really are strange mate seriously. I need to know where i stand on a few things that all, before i make a move, a lot of my posts are boredom the same as yours, but this is information i really need. Why the krays? i was thinking more someone who could not get residency over something like drink driving not murder you complete and utter idiot, also i wondered if anyone had not been able buy property or land over a conviction, but i have now received an e mail from a trnc estate agent saying your okay on minor convictions. so shut up your obviously not very bright your talking complete rubbish and your writing is worse than mine and that's saying something. No mask here geezer, you need to get out a bit you odd man, or at least add something to this forum because trying to be clever just ant working. Mr 4083 telling me to get a life, you would never understand my objective or motives, you toby.

You are O.K with minor or old convictions including those for "violence" and drink-drive.
