| We have a woodburning stove which was installed by Greenium, they have now gone from the TRNC. The stove has a fault with the flue and we have been advised that it needs insulating and a double skin installed to prevent it sooting up. We contacted Akinlar who came out and gave us a price for the work and despite us giving the go ahead they have failed to return despite contacting them several times. Is there anybody else who could carry out this work? We are just below Esentepe and although it is a long way to come, our neighbour needs the same work carried out, so a full days work I would think. Telephone or email addresses would be helpful. | Does nobody know of any other company who could carry out this work for us and our neighbour. Are ther no companies west of Girne or even in Lefkosia who install stoves and flues? |

You could try this young man, he fitted our woodburner this week, and did a very good job. Tel 05338312973, his name is Ferit and he speaks very good English, having been born in UK.

We have a woodburning stove and we also bought a digital carbon monoxide tester and nothing is going off but we get this smoke smell in the room like you would with an open fire (I suppose). Can anyone advise if this is normal? At the moment we are burning decking wood that has warped so not sure if that is the problem or if we have a problem with the stove itself! Thanks to all above for the names I have written them down in case we need them.

Hi, Just to let you all know that I noticed that Greenium still had a number in the buzz book and I phoned Ray. Ray has an engineer that he uses for maintainance and sent him round to have a look at our stove. We have now had a new flue with a double skin fitted and the wood burner is burning really well now. Apparently the flue can get condensation on the inside when the cold wind blows off the sea and this causes any soot to clog up the flue. Having a double skinned flue with insulation in between stops this from happening. Thanks for all your replies. The butlers wife

U have to be careful about what you burn too damp wood or wood that has been treated with chemicals or paint can cause you problems.....in uk we sell many stoves and only install liner if danger of leakage in chimney or the chimney is not suitable....soot arises from the fuel you burn and yes the flues do get cold and the draw can be affected..but the flue will warm up once you light the stove...the most important maintenance i would suggest is sweep your chimney at least once a year...and dont overtheat your stove,,,glass pimples..or just as important underheat it (soot on the door)...(you can buy a flue temp gauge for this...magnetic fixing)..its better to overwork a stove than underwork it.....any smell coming from a new stove may be a settling in issue.....or a leak at the jpoints to the flue or register board (Plate) .dont blast it on the first day...just a small fire to begin with for a couple of hours and let it go out sort of run it in...oh and dont use pepcoke...good luck
