I wonder why it's the british women that have become the fattest, anyone got any ideas?? when I go into town I am amazed at the size of some of the women there massive!! I was on a cruise once and this guy was rubbing sun cream into his partners feet because she could'nt reach them due to the size of her belly, I clocked her at the buffet lunch later in the day and what was on her plate, well, lets just say it would of kept an african village going for a week or so!! The couple where like late 20's!! And British!!

I've never seen fatter people than when I went to Florida theme parks... whole families of them....and they all spoke with an American accent. I've known people come back from a holiday in the USA feeling great because they realise they aren't in the same league as 'em folks!

Too much fatty, unhealthy food, chips, crisps, pies etc. and not enough exercise. Go everywhere in cars and too lazy to cook fresh food. You see it in the streets, shops every day! Sad, as so many are young too.

Msg.10, it says British women. It doesn't surprise me one little bit, a lot of them are just gross and the children as well. Unfortunately many of them appear to have moved over here and belong to the Alsancak Freeloaders Club.

Tango1, very naughty but truth hurts does it not. Don't tell me you have met the ones who say they live on pasta and raw veg every day but you have seen them pigging out at freebies and snuffling away the chocolate bars in Atakara and Dolmaci? Surely not !

It is all the pint guzzling, pizza scoffing etc. that goes on now. Women never used to have beer bellies! Too many adverts showing KFC, Big Macs and the like.... plus a big part was when whichever government, Tory I think, sold off the school sports fields, for housing boom profit, oh.. .and made 'competitive sport' a no-no in schools in case the losers got upset!! Life is all about winning and losing, and a healthy mixture of both is the way it should be.

Well I'm British and have not an ounce of FAT Don't guzzle pints, and definately don't eat pizza's, I just gave my life savings to the TRNC :-( lost everything, and got thinner & thinner, perhaps that is the answer, for all the poor fat people in the UK? just send your money to the TRNC? and then you will lose excess fat rapidly! could be another good slimming plan?

Well when I visit NC I always loose a bit of weight. I am convinced that food available is much less "fatty" and lower calories than the UK...... bread especially. The amount of processed crap available through supermarkets today in the UK is frightening even a lot of so called fresh fruit and veg is force grown with addatives to make it look good is widely available.

I shall be absolutely delighted to meet them at Slimming World, at least it will show they are aware of their problem (and it is a problem - both physical and mental). That's the first step - admitting that you are too overweight and need to lose it. (why do you think I'm going?) At least they are trying to do something about it. We can mentor each other and I'm sure the atmosphere will be great. Lets be honest, its a bit like being an alchoholic - the first step to being cured is admitting you are an alchoholic.

I would suggest people who struggle with weight issues have a simple Thyroid blood test. A lot of overweight people have a dickie thyroid and simple treatment can produce good results without the need for major diet regimes.

Turtle...A lot of overweight people also "Comfort eat"....It often runs in the family, Fat Parents, Fat kids...the answer is eat less. If you don't put the calories in, you don't end up wearing them...........

Martin you're absolutly right..... however there are many people who stuggle with weight that do not over eat it maybe their genes or something medical. I know a bloke who for 18 months has consistantly eaten less than 2000 calories a day but realy finds it hard to shift some weight.

This morning I went to Pine Bay Club - My friend mistakenly thought it was to be a Christmas Fair and it turned out to be a boot sale of some sort. Anyway, we were there just after 10am and would you believe that people were already drinking beer. There was also someone there grilling burgers and was certainly selling plenty. Enough said really. What's wrong with a cup of tea/coffee at that time of day anyway? Think we stayed for about 20 minutes.

It would appear (here in England anyway) that the unhealthy fattening foods are cheaper, for instance at the moment you can buy a tin of Roses, quality street, Heroes for £4.50 each also as an example, you can buy two very fattening Cadbury chocolate melt in the middle puddings for £1.00 and a family size trifle for £1.00. All of the above is so tempting, have a chocolate pudding after your evening meal, then open a tin of chocolates.

Vicki - I see your point about the cheapness of sweets, biscuits, etc. here in the UK at the moment. And, of course, don't let's forget the low price of beer, but, my opinion (for what it's worth) is that no-one forces anyone to eat/drink to excess and perhaps a bit of willpower wouldn't go amiss. Also, everything in moderation. I believe in "a little of what you fancy, does you good" J x

Unless you have a medical issue then calories in minus calories burnt equals either weight gain, weight loss or status quo. Too many kid themselves otherwise. What they should realise is that being overweight is not just a visual thing it is what it is doing to your body such as heart issues, diabetes and other potentially fatal conditions. Kidding yourself is killing yourself.

Jeannie, I absolutely agree, you can get 3 boxes of lager for £20.00 at the moment and three bottles of wine for £12.00, so after your chocolate pudding and while eating your Roses you can swig Lager or sip your wine. For the record I don't have a sweet tooth, guess I am lucky in that respect......

I must agree that the food is not the best out there.... not many places have decent veg for sale, it all tends to be limp and just a little bit scabby! Should be a nice little business venture for someone that can open an organic veg shop.... this time next year that would be 'miwwionnaires'!!

Nicola & Lapta Geeza You are not shopping in the right place come along and find out where everyone else shops and what there views are. I do know that I have discovered that the fresh fruit & veg here does not keep as long as at home. But here it is fresh and not treated with electronic devices etc to keep it fresh and give it a longer shelf live. One tip I was given in the UK is to keep your inner Cereal Packets and put your fruit and veg in them in the fridge - worth trying, what have you got to lose?
