Just as a follow up to my previous post: "If you have old gold jewellery lying around the house doing nothing for you, why not trade it in for some extra cash? 9, 18 or 24K etc, perhaps complete or broken chains, ex-valentine/engagement/wedding rings, rings missing stones, single earrings, I don't mind, I will give you a quote. Please come along to see me at the Açmenya restaurant market 11-3pm in Alsancak, or Chateau Lambousa market on Saturday mornings, or Pine Bay Sunday market/car boot." If you can't find me, just ask anyone for the lady selling the electrical home appliances.

Pippie, I would worry that someone over here would try to dump stolen jewelry on you might be a good idea to keep note of whoever brings you the gold and get a copy of their I.D. Just a thought. Chris

When you bring it to me for inspection I'll be happy to give you my offer based on the market value of 24K at the time. You can find me at Acmenya on Thursday 11-3pm if you like.

Hi Ralph, I base my calculations on the spot price for the day in question which is the value of pure gold anywhere in the world, usually quoted in dollars or pounds, and determined by what certain major banks in certain countries will pay for gold bullion at the time in question. I can only offer a percentage of that market value (ie, as scrap) as I expect it ultimately to be melted down.

didn't take too long for 'I'll buy your gold for a pittance' adverts too long to get on here. I sold some gold to one these companies a while back. I got a 1/4 of the value back, I still get emails from the buggers asking me to send more

I'm happy to say I don't offer a pittance Mike, and I've had some very happy customers. But if you don't want to sell to me I don't mind, I'm not going to mither you. I'm only offering my service.
