Hi all

I keep facing the same problems with laptops, the rectangle battery thing which we insert into laptop keeps disconnecting if the laptop is moved a bit and my laptop has shutdown so many times because of this. My pervious laptop also had the same problem! is all laptop charger things the same or what is it with these things!? it's annoying me now.

I think you are trying to say your battery keeps falling out? If that is the case then you are probably not engaging it properly. Make sure you hear it click home.

Also on some laptops there is a locking bar which is not spring loaded - you need to slide it over after you insert the battery. My previous Dell laptop had this.

I think the main problem is probably the battery no longer takes a useful charge... then when the cable is moved and the contact is broken the laptop shuts down almost instantly.... if the battery has been on charge for several hours how long on battery can your laptop function before it gives up?

Thank you all

Grouche. my laptop shuts down immediately because the battery in the laptop has some problems and doesnt keep it open as it doesnt charge itself whils the cable is connected. The main problem is, while i connect the charger via electricity thats when contact is broken as the laptop is moved and as the charger in the laptop is useless it shuts down.

Jovial John, my laptop is also Dell

Giles, i always make sure i engage it properly but it always makes a wiring noise!

Steveafc, yep I've had 2 different laptops acer and dell and in both experienced this problem.

I would also like to add, the battery inside the laptop stopped charging itself after i left ithe laptop on charge accidently for 8 hrs.

oceana,

replacement chargers can be obtained for a relatively small sum if you know someone who could bring it out for you... here they are much more expensive.

I bought a new one for a laptop last year and it cost the princely sum of £12... works perfectly.

A laptop battery replacement would really help though... these too can be bought via the internet.
