| It shows what happens when you pick a fight... if you do, history tells us repeatedly that you are risking what you already have. Virtually all of Europe (bar the UK) has suffered altered borders in the last 100 years as a result of conflict and seldom does the party who start the conflict retain all that they had when it started. That's the nature of the beast. What is really disappointing is the way peoples are so easily persuaded that they should go along with or start conflict as a means to an end...which never turns out well. Collective amnesia is troublesome but a useful tool for the would-be aggressor. Why does no one think 'If I start conflict with my neighbour, am I prepared to lose my home and land?' The answer is seldom 'Yes' and yet they do it... |
