I was prompted by the BBC to upgrade BBC iPlayer so I did but now I have a problem downloading any programmes, in fact it won't let me at all. For example, I was looking to download the Frozen Planet, so a list of programmes is there but if I click on the download arrow, it says 'block' just above it. Then if I go into the individual page of one of the programmes and click on download, I have 'Download Options' so I click on 'for iPlayer', the programme then appears on the iPlayer Desktop but does not actually download. I can watch the programme as long as I don't want to download it. Hope all that makes some sense to someone! Any ideas what I should be doing? Sue

as a work round you could just download the windows media player version of the program rather than the iplayer version and see if that works. to fix the actual problem, a starting point would be to unistall bbc iplayer desktop and adobe air, from control panel / add remove programs and then reinstall iplayer again and see if that sorts the problem out.

Erolz advice is excellent but I'd add one thing, The IPlayer can leave some settings in the Windows Registry when uninstalled. This is effectively a database (or collection) of settings that control how software runs in the Windows environment. It would be good practice to 'clean' the registry after uninstalling and before reinstalling the IPlayer. There's a good (and free) registry cleaner available here ..... http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Wise-Registry-Cleaner-Download-60566.html I'm sure Erolz could also recommend a good alternative.

Unless it is just me but the free download appears to be another of those that identifies loads of items that should be cleaned . Then when you ask it to clean , says you have to register and wants to charge you 29.00 euro`s for the priveledge.

Also with mine, un-installed I player and air, then re -installed but nothing works on the i player desktop or downloading to i player.Simply a message that all my programmes have expired or deleted. BUT when I have the option to download to windows media......then it downloads..............?????? If it doesn`t have the option for windows media I can`t download although when I had problems recording an episode of Merlin I used UKNOVA to download.
