Far more than they ought to, considering what's on offer. Not sure where to recommend, but there must be better options.

Hello bigjuss, Try these links, but I'd strongly advise you to go to see them in person, and ask hard questions of them, as to the curriculum, and the strength and numbers of their staff. We were let down badly by the American College, and would love to be able to be in a position to make our choices all over again. I'd certainly advise you to consider other options fully, and not to be taken in by the easily-made promises that you will receive. Best of luck! http://www.gau-americancollege.k12.tr http://www.gau.edu.tr/en

We have a daughter at the British Acadamy been there for 3 months and is loving it learning loads...what I would allways suggest is pay monthly for a least 6 months to see if the school is performing as promised and that the children are happy that way at least you can change....we made this mistake on the main land paying a year up front we were tied in and it wasn't a good school as has been posted lots of promises were made but not deliverd.

Trev, Even though you pay monthly, check it out, you are on a years contract. There was a case some time ago, whn the school was Sunny Lane, and ruled by the previous junta that a person tried to 'opt out' part way through a year and had to pay the full year even though leaving the island. Thing is, and you can see the schools point of view, they have allocated a space, and they probably won't get to fill it part way through a year. BJuss Do your homework carefully on school selection.

Why don't you contact them direct? Just ask for Accounts Department and they will tell you. That way you will hear direct and not via other people. There are discounts under circumstances that other people might not know about i.e. more than one child joining the school, etc

Bilge; Considering all teaching at GAU is in English and you are an "academic" as your profile states, your poss leave a lot to be desired . I think you are doing more harm than good by your very bad English and some comments! Your first post even goes as far as expressing "Also GAU has a campus at Canterbury and at Singapur, expect Girne campus" (correction: Singapur = Singapore, expect Girne = except Girne). As for your accreditation this is what Homer Files say; "The GAU website states that you can obtain an accredited degree from GAU and National American University. You can do your own research on National American University and its accreditation status on Google. International Business Management, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Marketing, Business Management and MIS are indeed accredited by an outfit know as IACBE, which appear on a list of UNRECOGNISED ACCREDITATION ASSOCIATIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING! continues...

"This means that IACBE although acting as accreditors of higher education establishments, do not have the legal authority or government recognition to provide such accreditation and consequently lack any recognised academic value... We contacted Kent County Council who is responsible for all government approved and regulated schools and universities in the county of Kent and spoke to a senior manager of the education department. Unfortunately, he had not heard of GAU campus in Canterbury... The courses on offer are not approved by or accredited by any UK university or regulating authority. It would appear that the courses are the same as those on offer at GAU; at best accredited by YODAK the North Cyprus Higher Education Board whose degrees are only recognized in Turkey, or by one of those obscure regional US accreditors, but most likely by the unrecognized IACBE... WE DO NOT BELIEVE THAT GAU CANTERBURY IS A VIABLE OPTION FOR MOST STUDENTS" continues...

IGNORE ANYTHING GAU SAYS ABOUT HAVING TO PAY FOR YOUR TUITION FEES FIRST. YOUR FIRST PORT OF CALL IS TO THE VISA SECTION AT THE NEAREST BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION OR EMBASSY. THEIR ADVICE IS FREE AND USUALLY RELIABLE AND CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM THEIR WEBSITE. THEY WILL GIVE YOU GUIDELINES ABOUT THE CRITERIA YOU WILL HAVE TO MEET BEFORE A VISA IS ISSUED.... SO ASK YOURSELF WHY IS GAU DEMANDING ALL THE FEES UP FRONT. YOU CAN BE SURE THAT IF A VISA IS NOT ISSUED FOR YOU TO STUDY IN THE UK, AND FROM WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED SO FAR, THIS IS HIGHLY LIKELY; GAU WILL NOT BE REFUNDING A CENT OF THE FEES YOU HAVE PAID. DON’T FORGET NEITHER WILL YOUR VISA FEE BE REFUNDED. IF YOU ARE MISLEAD BY THE GAU WEBSITE, ADVERTIZING MATERIAL, AGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY, STAFF EMPLOYED BY THE UNIVERSITY OR IN FACT ANYONE CLAIMING TO BE ACTING ON BEHALF OF GAU INTO BELIEVING THAT THIS CAMPUS IS IN ANYWAY REGULATED AND APPROVED BY THE UK GOVERNMENT..." continues...

... OR IS ISSUING UK ACCREDITED DEGREES, YOU MUST CONTACT KENT COUNTY COUNCIL TRADING STANDARDS OFFICE AND COMPLAIN. THE NUMBER IS: 0044 8454 04506." Bilge; you've been warned!
