Oil find in N Cyprus

Has anyone seen/read/heard of a recent oil find in N Cyprus?



We have friends here, who say that something has been posted in the Guardian newspaper back home.

Can't imagine the locals drilling for oil, is this another 'wind up'

They are talking about some exploration in NC to counter (politically) the exploration from the south, I am betting there will be an anouncement of a big find if the south make a claim first, a bit like 'my dad is bigger than yours'

Geologically speaking, there 'should' be no likelihood of oil or gas for some considerable distance either side of the subduction fault between Cyprus and Turkey, and almost certainly a fair distance south of the Cyprus Arc.

Is it possible they might find somebody else's oil pipe ? Probably not found a gas pipe as I have not heard a large explosion !

The only chance of an oil/gas find is between the Karpas and Syria.
