I've been buying, and recently downloading, Christmas albums by contemporary artistes over the last few years. The following are my current favourites: Annie Lennox - A Christmas Cornucopia (Stunning!) Diana Krall - Christmas Songs Michael Buble - Christmas Brian Wilson - What I Really Want For Christmas Wilson Phillips - Christmas Harmony Chicago - 25 (I'd never heard this until tonight - a cracker!) I know there are loads of Various Artistes type compilations which I also enjoy. However, it's great to hear modern singers/musicians working their way through some of the old well worn stuff in their own refreshing way. What do others think?

Wizard's "I wish it could be Christmas every day" must be one of the most unrepresentative but popular sentiments every year.

....I know my last post was a cheat, but all of those tracks are on compilation albums! For a 'proper' album though I still think Phil Spector's Xmas album stands up after 48 years (I know he went crazy in later life, but in his time he was an innovator).

Some one beat me to it. (message 4) good taste in music. I have many Christmas Albums and singles. But I also think that the Phil Spector one is the best. One of my all time favourite singles Is Mariah Carey, All I want For Christmas.

For me it has to be 'A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR YOU FROM PHIL SPECTOR' which has stood the test of time for the last 48 years. On Christmas Eve I'll be featuring most of the tracks on my Soul Train radio show. Max...

Glad to see, so far, that none of you like that Winter's Night stuff that Sting put out! A big disappointment when compared to his Symphonicities album.

On tape, I also have A Brass Band Christmas from the Sellers Engineering Band with the Huddersfield Choral Society Youth Choir. Champion stuff especially between breakfast and lunch on Christmas Day! Another tape is Cool Yule by a group of jazz session players. Title says it all!

"modern singers/musicians" If you think the artists you've listed are 'modern' I think you need to get out more!

I suppose it's quite comical really, Lanrick. Seems Bob's voice is now totally shot to bits. I turned it off after 3 0r 4 tracks and put Phil Spector on again!
