| Stating that Christofias’s views on the issue was already known, the President said that it out of the question for the Turkish Cypriot Side to accept these views. Reminded of a statement by the Greek Cypriot leader calling on him to break off his relations with Turkey when sitting a the negotiating table, President Talat said that he had strongly protested these words and warned that he was reciprocate if it continued. Responding to a question regarding the Greek Cypriot Side’s ongoing explorations for oil off the coast of Cyprus, President Talat said that such activities only served to harm the atmosphere of the negotiations process. The exchange between the two leaders took place outside the framework of the negotiations, which focused on the public service. According to UN Chief of Mission Taye Brook Zerihoun progress was made.
