If I cross the border into the south by foot at the Ledra crossing, where is the nearest supermarket?

There is a "Supermarket" in the basement of Debenhams on Ledra Street, not sure if there is anything else near that crossing. If not you get a bus either to the Mall of Cyprus or the Engomi Mall.

Thanks for that, what is the name of the supermarket I should be looking out for? Any idea what number the bus is?

I know it's a lot of questions but we are not very familiar with the South yet.

If you go to the end of Ledra Street and turn right and walk about 300 yards you will see the bus stops on your left. Cannot remember the number of the buses but it will cost 1 euro. Carrfoure are at both malls I mentioned, the Mall of Cyprus is a lot bigger than the one at Engomi and has Ikea next door.

There is a kiosk at the bus stops where you can ask about which bus to take, usually very helpful and I think the buses run about every half hour.

If you are on a quick pop over to the other side, there is a small Orphanides just across at Ledra St, take first left small road, and it's about 50m around to the right, near a small church. Ideal for a few odds and sods, or just a drink/bottle of water if you don't want to be stung for Ledra St prices.

Message 6, the Orphanides that you are talking about, is first left at the Metahan crossing. Is it not!

Mike hi,

Bus number 160 from the bus station to Cyprus mall lots of shops plus Carrefour s/market. Cost 50 cts each way or you can buy an all day ticket on the bus for any bus for 2 Euros! Bargain. Have fun exploring we did!

That's great! Never thought about getting the bus before! Is it ok to bring items back across the border?

msg 7, The Orphanides talked about is the one off Ledra Street. We only found out about it a few weeks ago and it's a good alternative to Debenhams in Ledra Street.

see this link for details http://www.orphanides.com.cy/storedetails/?s_id=40

Hi Emma

We have no problem coming back at all. Keep to your allowance just incase!! We park in Selen oto park and cross at Lokmachie (excuse spelling!!) Although you could park on a side street.
