It is now 4.15pm and no-one has been in our area at all other than a young man to ask if we were number 45, we said no, we are number 46, with that he got back in his car and disappeared. That was this morning. Conspiracy theories abound, Could there be another reason for wanting us all to stay at home today? Once it gets dark here, no-one will find us anyway. Never mind, we have had a lovely day in the garden, pruning and having a quiet read. Perhaps they do not need to count the Yabanci - they know full well we are here and where we are. Anyway, it will give loads of students a day's pocket money so cannot be all bad!

A chap just walked past my house, pen and clipboard in hand, i said hello, but he just carried on walking...i have even left Mr Ted outside all day so as to tell me when someone goes past, each time he has barked, it's because of a passing stray....no census folk.... (also in Karsiyaka) DD

I wondered that also. It is now 4.55pm and dark so have given up hope. I thought it was important to get the count right? Quite willing to go to Belediye if necessary to fill out the form tomorrow.

Two men turned up quite early (9ish) and asked if I were NO 4 or 4A. I explained I was No. 4 and there was no 4A on the street. They already seemed to have filled inNo 1 but ignored 2 and 3 (odd nos are on one side , even on the other) Then I took the form from them, checked it and explained that they were on the wrong street! You couldn't make it up.! At this stage my Turkish ran out so I took them outside and found a neighbour to direct them to the street on their list! Since then - yok . I ve been in the garden and the back of the house, but surely my dogs would have barked if I didnt hear the door. Come to think of it the dogs opposite havent barked either 4.20 - 40 mins to go, or did I see somewhere it was extended to 8 pm?

I am sure they can interpolate, estimate and guess. It does not matter anyway, because those (illegals?) that did not want to be counted, will have found it very easy not to be.

2 guys came around 3.30pm. Only asked a few of t he questions. When I asked why we did not have to answer all of the questions, he said, does not matter! Amongst the few questions that I had to answer: They took my passport, so they knew thta I was 64 and had a work permit. How long have you lived in the TRNC:: 12 years How many live births have you given: 2 Which sex: B & G Are you retired ??????? They saw the Work Permit. I ask you, why would pay all the costs, social etc if I was retired here!!! The whole thing is a farce!!! I cannot see how they have gained any information from my visit to plan the future for the TRNC. Wha a waste of a day!!

OK - we remain uncounted, seaside Karsiyaka, my bit of area has lots of lovely Turkish families (mostly from the Trabzon area, who came here 38 or so years ago) they also remain uncounted. They were really quite annoyed that they could not go out visiting their families - all for nothing they said what on earth was the point? Maybe they will have another one next year! Cannot believe that 5m tl + could be wasted on such a thing when the government is apparently going to banks to borrow money for pension payments etc. I think the Cypriots deserve better.
