Jock 1 you will in for sure. I crushed my foot on the cross trainer on Monday, now have BIG BIG toe on right foot 3 times normal size and black as black can be. I would like to go to the hash to meet other hashers even if I can't join in this time. So you see a lift would be greatly appreciated otherwise I would have considered cycling!

I have checked their facebook page ... http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=8762508468&ref=search ... and I'm not certain if the NCH3 is a sleeping or dead parrot I have gleaned from their page that they run/socialise on the first Sunday of each month. Does any one know of a run being planned for Sunday, October 3rd ? I used to be a regular on the Istanbul H3 ... and have also done at least a dozen runs with each of the Ankara, Warsaw and Moscow kennels. It's definitely a good way to get yourself out exploring the countryside around where you live ... and can be good healthy exercise ... and as long as one doesn't commit too many misdemeanours on the run, one doesn't have to drink too much in the after-run circle ... well, that's how it was on the above-mentioned hashes. Enough of the advert, hopefully someone out there has some info as to whether there is a run next Sunday. On on ...

Maybe i should start a new thread - as my question and Maddy's question (from December 2008!) are obviously different ... in any case, this post takes this thread to the top of the page again

Ian, I reckon your idea of a new thread is probably the best idea as you state... the thread title and your enquiry don't really cover the same ground. I take it Maddie got there.... " I crushed my foot on the cross trainer on Monday, now have BIG BIG toe on right foot 3 times normal size and black as black can be" Maddie, hope your toe is better... I always knew there was a good reason for not owning a cross-trainer!

"The Hash House Harriers (abbreviated to HHH, H3, or referred to simply as Hashing) is an international group of non-competitive running, social and drinking clubs." Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_House_Harriers Well bugger me.... if I'd know about the drinking, I'd have been more inclined to meet you... but only at the pub after the run! Interesting to read about the origin of the name... maybe here it should be called the 'Ubiquitous Chip Club'

Hi Groucho ... the "Ubiquitous Chip Club" doesn't quite roll off the tongue in the same way, but that said, the original "Hash House" did indeed get its name because of the unimaginative food it served up ... and using the name "Ubiquitous Chip Club" would certaınly save us the energy of continually explaining our non-association with hashish By the way Groucho, one doesn't have to be an Olympic athlete to participate - at each of the checks and holding checks there will be false trails to catch the fast runners out ... allowing the walkers to keep up with the FRBs. On on ...

The Hash. All things to all men, and women. I founded a Hash here, in foreign parts, twenty-four years ago. There are now seven different variations on my original regular Saturday Hash running, and having a great time, every month. Hash House Harriers came into being pre-war and prior to this smoking nonsense. Which certain people seem to think it is clever to make less than intelligent remarks on. Might I be allowed to come along later in October?
