Help..our toilet seat has broken and it looks like we have to dismantle the whole loo to get to the fittings. We have the new seat, is there a handyman who can do this. We are in Baspinar, above Lapta. 0533 874 8035

There are several types of fitments. IF you have the rubber type with a single screw in the centre, which compresses the rubber against the toilet, then this is simple to replace. Just unscrew to release the rubber, the tightening nut at the bottom (inside the loo fitting) will drop to the floor and is wasted. Pull out the old hinge and replace with new. I think you can buy replacement hinges at Ermitage in Girne ( on left going from the roundabout to the new harbour). My local hardware shop obtained them for me.

hi vidal , is it not a piano type hinge , knock the pins out , seat will come away , or feel each side of the pan , underneath ? you should find the wingnuts , directly below the cistern , no need to dismantle whole toilet to change a seat , good luck .
