| Hello, Due to power problems specific to the premises we are using as a basestation in Karsiyaka, we have experienced an outage starting around 1pm that lasted about 4 hours. Our engineers was on site within less than 30 minutes, however, due to the nature of the problem they were unable to sort it out and eventually, a temporary solution was devised but took longer to implement. Professionals will be fixing the problem permanently tomorrow with an expected final outage of no more than 10 minutes. As per with our day-for-hour compensation scheme, 4 days will be added to every customer account who has been affected by this outage. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this problem that has occurred outside of our control. Kemal |

| Outage is techie talk for the length of time a service is "out", or off the air. |

| The term outage is used to refer to periods when a system is unavailable. Also called downtime. Outage can be software, hardware related or it can be caused by external factors, like this case. you can read more about network outages with some famous examples at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_outage . In this particular incident, there was a power outage of approx 8 hours in the basestation location at Karsiyaka (our basestations are currently equipped with approx 4 hours of backup power) which prevented customers connected to that particular basestation from using internet for approx 4 hours until the issues are resolved. | Outage is yet another American verbal imposition on the English language. We used to call them power cuts or power failures. I suppose in this case it could (in English) be called a systems failure due to a power cut. |
