hi I understand this week in the turkish newspapers that the government has given those a chance who failed to renew there visa or do residency to make a one off payment of 1300tl to Customs and get there visa renewed. I am trying to find out who this applies to my daughter is currently out of the country (uk) but intends to go back to cyprus but cannot because she owed 12000tl and was told to wait for this announcement. Does anyone have the link for this in english and more importantly can anyone translate in brief exactly who it applies to. As we all know articles can be misinterupted so any local Turkish person out there who have friends or family in this field of work who can help i would appreciate it.

Hi, The amnesty applies to all, if your daughter wants to return back to Cyprus, she can do, as long as her entry is via Ercan, she will pay the 1300TL but be aware that even though she pays the fine, she will only get 30 days visa on arrival, and if she wants to sort out a residency she only has that time frame, in the meantime if she tries to do a border run to the south, then she will be delined re-entry. If she flies into Larnaca and tries to cross over from the Gc, the Amnesty will not take effect as they are unable to process her application or take any payment and she will be declined entry into TRNC. ONLY VIA ERCAN AIRPORT OR BY BOAT INTO KYRENIA.

| Erkin Thank you for your prompt reply as you can see i am a little confused as i am getting different information on this a Cypriot friend went into the Foreign department to ask about this and who it applies to, they said it only applies to families and individuals who are still currently living in |TRNC and will not apply to those who have left. That is why i am trying to get official information on this as i do not want her to travel all the way into ERCAN to be turned away. So i understand what you are saying is that she goes via ERCAN get her visa for 30 days and then go get her residency sorted within the 30 days. If what you are saying is 100% correct then she should not have any problems. Can you tell me have you just read this or had talks with friends working within this area? |

Erkin Firstly let me thank you for clarifying this for me as i said before so many people say different things, Secondly am i correct that she has 2 months to do this? and lastly can she just go back to Cyprus just to make this payment and leave say after a few days, Then return just on a normal holiday visa? I apologise for taking up so much of your time on this but need to make sure that this is all clear before she returns to sort this.

yes she has 60 days to do this in, the Amnesty is only valid for 60 days as effect from the the day the law passed on monday 5th December 2011. once the she has come and paid the fine, she is then free to return anytime, via Ercan or Larnaca does not matter.
