Spitfire , (beer) kentish bitter will be heading to the shores of the TRNC early 2009, could this be an attack on J..n S....s ,packed with full flavor, and armed with 4.5 vol, is this the battle of ales ?

captainjohn Although I am a fan of real ales, anything less than 6% vol for me is a waste of time. The only beers I used to like around that sort of %vol were Old Thumper (Ringwood Brewery) and Summer Lightning. Oh yeh I forgot "Old Peculier". I am starting to feel thirsty now so I need to raid the fridge. AJ

AJ, Spitfire is a lovely clean tasting hoppy beer that is refreshing in summer and fine at room temperature in wintertime too... I for one look forward to its arrival... question is... is it going to be reasonably priced?

Grouch Unfortunately if it is bottled beer then it will bear no resemblance to the original draft version. If it is draft then it will be top pressurised obviously because it has to travel and will still not resemble the original hand pumped version. The one and only thing I miss about the UK is real ales pulled out of the cask by a barmaid with muscles on her arms that I would be proud of. AJ

AJ Bottled beers are seldom completely the same as draught.. but the bottled spitfire is really very good especially if opended and some of the gas allowed to be driven off... The biggest difference has got to be between bottled and draught Guinness. I love real ale straight from the barrel but that's not very likely here... Hobgoblin London Pride Ruddles County Spitfire etc. are all fine bottled beers... but I would nver drink tinned varieties.
