| I have 2 men cleaning my well now. It is a drilled and lined well so very narrow. One man has gone down with a sling around him and a shovel - the other is using a hand driven windlass to lower and raise buckets. They say there is 1.5 to 2 metres of mud and they will finish today. Cost is 400tl. The well was drilled 4 years ago and the mud has accumulated since then - I only found out when the pump stopped producing water. Press Tekniks have sorted the pump but there is no point to put it back until the well is cleaned. Certainly this was not a factor I had considered when working out the financial benefits of a well over tankered water but I think I am still better off - but not by such a big margin. If I had realised this then I would have had the well drilled deeper initially to give a bigger reservoir. And certainly in future I will monitor the accumulation of silt and gradually raise the pump to keep it clear of mud. |
