New Years Eve in Girne is usually pretty good, there is normally a live group in the square by the Belideye offices and fireworks after. All of the bars are buzzing and if you want to move away from Girne then places such as Ibos bar at Alsancak are packed full of locals. And the difference from the UK is there is not a fight to be seen.

It was only Wogan's saracastic remarks that made it bearable. Having said that, never watched it, just listened to Wogan's comments the following couple of days. HANDS OFF TERRY WOGAN! LOL

The fireworks in Girne are supposed to be set off at midnight - there is some logical reason for that but right now cannot think of it.



Unfortunatley last year the man lighting the things was on a promise at midnight so set them off at about 23.50. When the things set off everyone thought it was midnight and really got us in a tis when looked at the clock!¬!!!!!



As AJ has already stated it is a good night around there with a live group, great atmosphere and no hassle. Fireworks last about 10 minutes.

As previously mentioned there is a live band in Girne by the Belideye offices.

And as previously mentioned Ibos bar in Alsancak normally have a live group (it has been 'Grupo SOS' before) but I will find out for definite and let you know.
